not good news at all..................................

Best wishes Erika And Hamit.....you made it before the below info. (F)

I just checked the american embassy website in ankara. We're waiting for our appointment date. This was on their home page and I thought I'd share it in case anyone else hasn't seen it that may be affected by it. Looks like we'll be waiting even longer....

URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING VISA APPOINTMENTS IN ANKARA

MARCH 23 TO APRIL 7, 2009

Due to the upcoming visit of the President of the United States to Turkey, all visa appointments previously scheduled for March 23 through April 7 will be cancelled. This applies to both immigrant visa applicants and non-immigrant visa applicants.

The US Embassy in Ankara and visa information service in Istanbul are attemping to contact all scheduled applicants to provide an alternative interview date.

If you have a non-immigrant (tourist, business, student, etc) interview during this time and you have not been contacted yet , please contact the visa information service at (90 212) 340-4444 for reschedule.

If you have an immigrant visa appointment please contact the US Embassy Ankara at (90 - 312) 455 5555 between 10:30 - 12:00 Monday through Thursday.

We apologize for this incovenience.

Wowwwwwwwwwwwww My heart dropped and then came back up just as fast Debra.....I don't think I can handle any more surprises! Anyone affected? We are very lucky. I was just joking to Hamit that maybe we would see Obama in Ankara  Why close the consulate and all those people plans ruined and tickets lost or devalued....wowwww

Ohhh Julia you two are so cuteeeeeeeeeeee...I just posted my last response above when lo and behold:

BOOM!

up pops near life size shots of Onur and Julia....lol

You look so freaking young....like 12....not quite,, but you do look very young. You two look so happy! Thanks for keeping in touch! What a joy.

Haha, thanks Erika :) I get that a lot about looking young...both of my parents look young for their age as well so I think it must be genetic - I consider it a blessing! :D

That seriously sucks about those interviews being canceled. And the following weeks are probably already booked so when will they reschedule them? Unjust!

Erika,

Seriously, don't worry about it. I am so down now that I don't believe any good news. I waited a year for Muhammet to finish the military so we could marry, I waited almost 2 years for this K-3 visa now, so I am beyond hope. We are fighting every day and I just feel like giving up. I am so tired of being unhappy and even if we got the visa, I don't know how we can make all this time apart up. We are just getting more and more distant each day. I don't know how people can last through this.

Visa Journey:

Marriage: July 6, 2007

I-130 Sent: August 7, 2007

NOA1: September 24, 2007

I-129F Sent: September 25, 2007

NOA2: March 7, 2008

Packet 3: March 28, 2008

Interview: June 24, 2008

10 months in AP--will this ever end?

Sibel Sibel... all I can say is I feel for you and know this feeling all too well-not because of Hamit, but because of other ####### before in my life. I still often think what's the point and have been stretched beyond with this hole thing thus far and I just cannot seem too get excited for anything anymore, although I should be happy that my life is at it's best and will only get better.

However, I know that repeated disappointments create hoplessness and this sucks your soul away after a while and you become flat, emotionless, deeply depressed and feelings are better left unfelt good and bad because it seems there is no end and without that how can one remain strong, forget happy. The U.S should not even allow their citizens to have endure this third world BS-ridiculous!

How is it that they cannot find a program or hell, make their software guys create it themselves, where all agencies cooperated by simply creating an all in one database that produced results in an instant?? Surely in this day and age......This should be their priority, after all, this whole AP BS was their doing as they were so lax in the embassies and repeatedly allowed terrorists through effortlessly. Now they have made it way too complicated. This ruins more American's lives than any terrorist could.

Needless to say, this is very rough and continues to be and I am so sad for you Sibel. Do you think that with a little effort on both your parts you can mend some of that distance? Or are you willing to truly just let it all go at this point? Is this love honestly not worth the trouble? If it is worth it and you are just feeling like you cannot keep going, just accept this and allow a much needed pity party and pull yourself up with positive thoughts even if lying to yourself as eventually all thoughts however false later become moods-bad ones. Sounds silly, but it really works and I do this when I cannot seem to get out of a dark mood. Just say the opposite for whatever negative thought you have and after you make this a habit it will save you from despair. Hey, I am often in a negative mood and sometimes I get so fed up with my hopelessness that I became desperate for anything to save me. Hope this helped-I am trying like hell for you to feel better!

How can I preach to you when I am prematurely harboring the thought that if we somehow have to endure any kind of obstacles and/or AP that I wouldn't have what it takes to fight despite the fact that no matter how much I love him or how special and important he is to me-I cannot see myself getting through with us in one happy piece and this scares me and saddens me because I don't want to give up at all-I have simply went beyond my endurance long ago. I have been through so much letdowns in all my life that I only can pray that I can muster up the strength to endure more not for myslef, but for his sake as I know he would be devastated if I gave up on us. Tears come quickly if AP or visa denial even runs across my mind and it will be unbearable to have to come back alone. I will be so devastated that I am afraid I couldn't handle this. Hamit of course, is such a newbie to life that he would be depressed but could bounce back-I pray for us both Sibel

Ok I just vented once again today...I am so stressed and my moods have been a rollercoasterfor 2 weeks! So much is on my mind! Let me know how you are Sibel! Don't just give up! I may need you to tell me to not give up down the road. Insallah asla. :crying:

welcome, BayanAltun! (F) Best wishes for your visa journey.

Hey, thanks for the help! I've made sure to make copies of everything I sent over. One more question: The instructions say "It is useful to bring letters, photographs, and other evidence of your relationship with you." Do they want him to bring these items to the interview? Or are they wanting these submitted with the documents that we are sending in? :)

and just want to say - ditto

Bring these with you to the interview. They love pictures and letters!

BTW, I noticed his tattoo on the hand. What is it?

My hubby's sister and cousin are obsessed with tattoos, esp the tribal ones. Is this a newer trend in Turkey? I haven't been over there in a few years so, of course, I have no idea.

Hi Herkes (Everyone)!!

Julia, I just love this picture!! Cok Guzel!!! I am so glad Onur is making friends fast and adjusting. Wonderful news!! So good to see you guys happy!

We should know more when Yilmaz goes to the Embassy on March 18th. Thanks for asking :)

Sibel, I am so sorry that you are feeling so down. I was thinking like this right before Yilmaz gave me the news that his waiver was approved. I didn't know if I could go on and then we got the good news, but I was close to rethinking this whole thing!! And to think you have been waiting much longer than our 15 months for our waiver approval!! I believe that God does not give us more than we can handle and I think your good news is just right around the corner!! You are in my prayers, I wish I could do more!!

Erika, I am excited for you!! Wow, you will be leaving in less than a week!!! Yilmaz said he is getting there early. He said there is a cafe close by the Embassy and he will have some tea while he is waiting for the Embassy to open. He will be leaving Sunday to go to his sister's house and stay there. Thank God his sister lives pretty close to the Embassy. I feel better that he will be staying with family.

Hi Mina, Deb, Awaterlily, Tanya and Filiz!! I hope you are all doing well.

Welcome to our new members. I wish you both happiness and speed in this journey!!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Hugs,

Wendy

The tattoo on Onur's hand is just a design that he did himself (can you believe it?) - it goes pretty much all the way up his arm. He also has my name tattooed above his shoulder blade :) I think tattoos are becoming more popular in Turkey, but still not like here in the States. He still gets stares from people in the summer when he wears t-shirts
