Thanks Debbie,

I will try to enjoy this trip more because I think it will be a long long time before I can go again, so I will try to visit more places and enjoy the time I will have there for now.

Interesting that you should mention about eating bread while I'am there, well there goes my diet :(

It's going to be kind of hard to resist all the wonderful food out there, really really hard!

Anyway I will let you know all about my trip when I get back and hope to hear some of the other couples good news on their visa process, good luck to everyone.

Hi Everyone,

I haven't written in awhile. Going through some stuff. But anyway, I just want to thank everyone again for all their good wishes and support.

As you can see by my signature, the outcome of the interview was not a good one. We now have to go through the waiver process. I know this is going to be a long road and much more separation time!!!

Thanks again and I hope all is well with everyone and their loved ones. Take Care.

Wendy

sorry to hear about your interview outcome. On the upside of things, at least the overstay was the only cause for denial. Although the waiver request time requires you to remain seperated a bit longer hang in there...the odds are great that it will be approved.

If you haven't found it yet, there is another forum on VJ that is waiver specific.

Prayers and good wishes to the both of you...keep us posted.

Hi Dayna,

The Department of State says:

"A U.S. citizen may acquire foreign citizenship by marriage, or a person naturalized as a U.S. citizen may not lose the citizenship of the country of birth.U.S. law does not mention dual nationality or require a person to choose one citizenship or another. Also, a person who is automatically granted another citizenship does not risk losing U.S. citizenship. However, a person who acquires a foreign citizenship by applying for it may lose U.S. citizenship. In order to lose U.S. citizenship, the law requires that the person must apply for the foreign citizenship voluntarily, by free choice, and with the intention to give up U.S. citizenship."

This is the link:

http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1753.html

It seems a little unclear but I would interpret it to mean that if a country claims you as a citizen because of marriage or birth then you do not lose your U.S. citizenship. But if you actively apply for the citizenship it could jeopardize your U.S. citizenship. Of course, I am not expert, but that's the way it appears to me. Please let me know if you come across something different.

Kaan

This is the Turkish Embassy link with information about citizenship application.

http://www.e-konsolosluk.net/ConsularServi...pe=7&ID=203

It says you need to stay 5 years in Turkey. Unfortunately it is in Turkish, not in English. May be your spouse can help you about translation. You can also download the application form.

Again, I would double check, it may cause you to lose your US citizenship.

Good luck,

Kaan

My husband's AOS interview has been scheduled, and we were sent a list of documents to bring to the interview.

And I need some help!

They want a certified copy of our marriage certificate. We were married in Turkey and only have the original marriage booklet.

How would we get a certified copy? Would we need to get it from the Evlenme Dairesi in Turkey? Or would the Turkish embassy in USA

be able to give it to us? We only have a certified translation.

We also need a translator since my husband doesn't speak English. Am I able to be the translator or can a non-relative Turkish speaker

come with us to the interview? Does the translator need to be licensed/certified or can it just be anyone who is capable to translate?

My husband came on a K-3 non-immigrant Visa and had his medical exam in Istanbul. Does he need to have a new medical exam done

or was it sent with the packet that we gave to the customs officer?

Thanks!

Dayna,

I believe certified translation is OK, there is no certified copy of a marriage license in Turkey. Just bring the original Turkish marriage booklet!, and also your certified translation.

I dont know if you can be a translator...

Maybe it would be a better idea to ask these questions in K-3 forums, i am sure there are more people who have had similar experience. In our forum, there are people with K-1, F1, H1 etc... visas.. K-3 forum, there are more people with similar cases, i am sure it would be more helpful.. This is the link:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showforum=81

Sorry I cant help you much.

Good luck in your interview.. Let us know how it goes..

My interview will be on next monday.

Hi awaterlily and Everyone!! Yilmaz and I are still waiting on our I-601 waiver. It has only been 1 month, so I am sure we have much longer before any news.

Since I work for a school district in the transportation department, things have picked up with the start of school. Having beautiful weather in PA. Today was very hot, but there was a breeze that was nice if you were standing or laying in the shade.

I now summer is winding down, but is anyone planning any trips? Anyone going to Turkey in the near future?

iyi gunler,

Wendy :)

Hi Everybody!

Hope you all enjoyed the summer. Resul and I have been busy working too... It's hard being on different schedules and trying to do things together, but we did a few day/weekend trip to Atlantic City and area boardwalks. But the big news is that I'm having Gastric Bypass surgery tomorrow morning! I have been pursuing this since April as it is a long process to be approved by the insurance company. So I will keep you all posted as I hopefully become the incredible shrinking woman! ;)

Take care!
