Hi guys,

well im just registered but i have been reading what u guys write for a while already.

We are about to apply for Fiancee Visa too. So i have a few questions about that. Actually questions like just for make myself a little more relax. Because i started to get stressed already.

My fiancee is working for Navy and she has just gone for a long deployment which is gonna take about 7-8 months. Before she went, we hired an attorney. Name called Ted Huang. We wanted to make it more guaranteed and it was more because of her deployment. So while shes away attorney will still do things for us. She and i already arranged every documents that he wanted from us, and we sent him. At the end of this money, we will pay for last payment so he will apply for us.

So my questions are, are there anyone who heard about this attorney? is he good? i think he seems really good. But i read some other posts about other attorneys then i scared a little.

By the way, i was going to school before, then i decided to go to military, after 15 months i met with my fiancee online. Between that time, i have never worked in a job. So thats why (still im not working) i couldnt write any job history to our application form. Is this may be a problem? I think they dont care what i have or where i work etc. They care more about my fiancee's job and bank accounts etc. right?

Other question is: Do you think we should go to interview together in Ankara? Because its a little hard to do for us because of her deployment, hopefully after we apply if i can take the interview date before she comes back it would be better.

She visited me only one time. I couldnt go to US never before. is this would be a problem too?

And, attorney and things i read on internet say the military job of her makes the things more possible and fast for visa. Is this true?

Thank you so much for ur answers already :)

GL to everyone

Hello. Welcome to VJ. I've not heard of your lawyer before. Most people that I know have preferred to file their own K1 papers. The reason being that it isn't usually necessary to pay for a lawyer. I've heard horror stories about lawyers, but I've also heard of slightly improved wait times. I'm not convinced there are any significant benefits to using a lawyer unless you have some complicated circumstance such as a criminal history, complicated previous marriages, child custody issues, or something of that sort.

I agree with you that they don't care too much about your work history especially since you finished school and fulfilled your military duty. You are not required to go to the interview together. My wife was approved and I couldn't go. Finally, the only requirement is that you have met in person. Nothing states you must have met on multiple occasions. You guys are going to be fine. Enjoy your wait! :)

Best of luck. I hope for a speedy approval for you.

Hi, anitashreve. Congratulations on getting this far. You can read about the experiences that people have had in Ankara here: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Turkey

Basically, you should take as much evidence as possible. The officers do not all ask for the exact same pieces of evidence, so just be as complete as is realistically possible. There's no way to know what they'll want to see so don't stress out about it!

Also, Gil + Pel - Congrats!

Hi and CONGRATS!!

I just thought I would drop in and say hello.. haven't been on in a while. Wanted to let everyone know I am feeling pretty good. Healing from my surgery and getting over the effects of the first round of chemo. Things are good right now. Hoping the second round goes as smoothly.

We had our biometrics yesterday. Keeping our fingers crossed we don't get a letter, like Pel, saying they need to be redone :) When we got home, we had a letter from USCIS saying our case had been transferred to the California Service Center and we would be notified of the decision by mail. I am assuming this means we do not have to go for an interview :) Nice.. very nice.. since I am not supposed to travel right now and had to plead with my doctor to let me go to the Biometrics appointment.

Wondering if we need to send them anything else? The letter didn't say they needed anything, but I had always read that we needed to be able to show joint bank accounts, utility bills in both our names, etc. I have everythign ready.. but now it looks like they aren't asking for it.

So, for those of you who had your cases transferred and didn't have an interview.. what's next. We get a decision letter in the mail and that's it?? Should I be getting anything else prepared?

Hope everyone is well.. and now that I am feeling better I hope to be here more often.

OH.. had another question too..

Have any of you registered your marriage in Turkey, but done it here? We were looking on the Turkish Embassy Webpage, to see if there was any way we could register our marriage in Turkey, but do it here in the U.S. and couldn't find any info on it. Do we have to wait until we go back to Turkey to register our marriage there and have me added to their family register?

I know the law used to be that women would automatically get Turkish Citizenship if they married a Turkish man ( Men had to wait three years).. but hear this may have changed recently. Does anyone know about this? I plan on dual citizinship if this is still a possiblity.

Hey Jenn. We registered our marriage in Turkey through the embassy in Los Angeles. My wife downloaded a couple of forms and filled them out, took them in, and paid some fees. I'm not sure exactly how it broke down because we were doing several things at once, but I can ask her later. I applied for Turkish citizenship even though I won't qualify until next year. They accepted the form anyway. We also filled out a form to renew my wife's passport. I'm pretty sure we paid fees for all three of those things, but paid them as a lump sum.

(I just now called my wife and she thinks it was 10 dollars to file the application to register our marriage. She said it's more if you get the book, but we didn't do that one. She also said you can do all of those things by mail. Just go to the embassy website and download the forms.)

Hope that was sort of helpful :)

Also, it was easy dealing with the embassy. It was like a normal office building just outside of Beverly Hills. No long lines or anything, but they were only open like 3 hours a day!

Thanks! We were looking on the Embassy webpage, for the Embassy here in Washington DC and couldn't find any information at all. I will go back and look again and see if we can find some forms. I even tried calling the Embassy, but couldn't get through to a live person. At least I know it's possible and the information is there somewhere. We'll keep looking!!

Hi all-

I hope that everything is going well for everyone. A couple of random and important/unimportant questions:

- Efe and I finally got our NOA2, and I hope that Ankara has received our petition by now. If all goes well, hopefully we'll at least know our interview date by July 1st. I guess that our interview could be anytime from August- December. Efe wants to be in Turkey at the end of September for his friends wedding (his two best friends are marrying each other:)), and we can't decide what to do. We were thinking that he could come here on his tourist visa (which he already has) from July-September, and then go back to Turkey later for the wedding/ K1 interview? I just would hate for something to go wrong and customs not let him through when he gets to Philadelphia. I know that this topic has been exhausted (visiting while waiting for the interview) in the general forums, but if anyone has any opinions/advice/experience with this, please let me know!

- What's our best bet for Turkish TV in the US? Do any of the popular providers offer Turkish channels? I've searched and haven't found anything but very random websites.

Thanks!!
