I watched No Reservations last week and it was ok. Again, I regret buying it. I'm sure I'll watch again in the future when i'm completely bored.

Nessa, why do you buy movies you haven't seen yet?

we buy Tuesday's releases. We check the ratings and comments, well, at least I do on Netflix and IMDB. If the movie sounds good we buy. If not I order on Netflix. We have a pretty good collection already, and yes, sometimes I ask Charles to buy movies that have a chance to be not so good, it's a risk. But we made a deal recently that we'll only buy movies that we're pretty sure are good.

You see every movie that comes out each week? I kind of do what you do, except if it looks good (and so few do), I put it in my Netflix cue. If it looks bad, I just...don't watch it at all. I would only buy a movie that I thought was not only good but also infinitely rewatchable.

i don't know if it's the area where I live, but I never saw most of those movies in the theaters.. heck, I think I saw eastern promises in DVD first than in the movies..

Did you all watch the Oscars?

I can't believe there wasn't a thread!

I LOVE the Oscars. So much that I kind of sacrificed editing a section of my thesis before turning it in (what the hell, the third draft isn't for a month).

I enjoyed the trim-the-fat writing approach, even it was because they only had a week. Cut to the chase and hand out some fecking awards.

I did have to sacrifice the red carpet to the thesis gods though, so I'm looking forward to the fashion mags this week. The one InStyle issue I buy every year.

no. I put the ones I'm interested on my queue, but I usually give preference to rent tv shows so they're longer and they keep me occupied on weekends.

Yeah, now I can't wait to see Ma Vie en Rose...I've been putting it off. If you haven't seen No Country for Old Men, you've got to see it. It's up there with Fargo. When we left the theater, I told my brother I thought it was the closest movies had ever come to perfect.

Is that what everyone on the base does to pass the weekends?

I love the Oscars too. For some reason I've missed it for the past several years, but was able to watch the whole thing last night.

I really loved that song that won, "Falling Slowly". Gonna have to download it today.

I was also pleased to see Marion Cottilard win for La Vie En Rose, even though I haven't seen it yet. She was so sweet.

Some weird thing happened with Ryan Seacrest and Gary Bussy on the red carpet, you should read about it. It was all very strange and Jennifer Garner seemed scared for her life!

ETA: And yes, now I have to see No Country For Old Men. They really needed to do a better job titling that, I usually stay away from movies with "old men" in the title (i.e. Grumpy Old Men). I fell asleep during There Will Be Blood.

Yeah I LOVED Once. I went to see it in the theaters twice. :) But wanna know something gross? Glen Hansard and Marketa Iglova are a *couple* according to Wikipedia. And Marketa Irglova is NINETEEN! (Hansard is 38.)

Alex, age is nothing but a number! :P

I'd never even heard of that movie, must be out on video by now...

Yeah it's available on my Time Warner OnDemand (I sound like an ad) so it's probably available on DVD. Ok but...Hansard met Irglova in her Czech hometown. They made the movie two years ago. She is nineteen. Pervy fellow. I guess they have a musical connection that transcends age.

Is that what everyone on the base does to pass the weekends?

We live off post. And I doubt that's what everybody does. It's a small city, there's not much really we can do here on the weekends. I went to the gym, food shopping, that was it.

When I'm in the mood to go out we go. But just to think of going to KC, driving at least 40 min to get anywhere and then back I just prefer to stay home and watch tv. Charles likes to play computer games, I just don't feel like staying on the comp after sitting in front of the comp for 5 days/week, 7.5 hours a day, blah.
