Michael Vick reports to prison in Leavenworth!

Michael Vick reported to the federal prison camp in Leavenworth this afternoon to serve time for his role in a dog-fighting ring.

The Bureau of Prisons and Vick’s attorney, Billy Martin, confirmed that Vick was transferred to the minimum-security camp, which is adjacent to the medium security U.S. Penitentiary “the Big House” at Leavenworth.

“Mr. Vick has been transferred from the Northern Neck Regional jail in Virginia to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons minimum security facility in Leavenworth, Kan.,” according to a statement released by Vick’s lead attorneys. “Mr. Vick hopes to participate in progams offered at that facility, including the Bureau of Prisons drug treatment program.”

Rumors began swirling Friday about Vick’s sentence after an anonymous tipster called several media outlets to report that Vick was headed to Leavenworth

He joins a long list of well-known inmates to serve prison time in Leavenworth.

BOP officials said he will be required to work. And he will be offered access to the drug abuse programs available at the facility.

BOP officials would not discuss why he was sent to prison camp in Leavenworth. And Vick’s attorneys were also mum on the matter.

“Mr. Vick looks forward to being reunited with his family upon completion of his sentence. He is hopeful that following his release he will have the opportunity to resume his career as a professional football player,” said the statement from his attorneys.
