Are you sure it's similar timelines? For DCF to take as long as the others, it would mean that Bogota was taking at least six months or more just to approve the petition, and that seems highly unlikely when you can file in person. Please do correct me if you have heard of people filing directly and having to wait six months or more for petition approval. :)

You're right, DCF should be faster than the others. I was referring to the difference between a K1, K3 and CR1.

I would highly recommend you get married in Colombia before you come back to the States. The reason being is that you can file DCF or if that is not possible you can file for CR1/CR2 visas. These vs. K3/K1 visas are taking about a month or two longer to process in Bogotá but like I said before, you won't have to pay for AOS when they get here nor have to deal with additional paperwork.

so if I were to marry in colombia, and file DCF with the consulate, what papers do i need to file and how much time could it take?

As far as processing time every consulate is different...

DCF begins with an I-130

YMMV
