Question about POE

This may be a silly question but me and my danish fiance' are coming back to the USA the same time. He just got his K1 visa and he'l be entering the USA for the first time on the visa. Anywho.. when we get off them plane from Denmark first entering the USA can I go with him through customs?? Or do I have to go my separate way and wait?

Yes, you can go with him through immigration. I did...it was a long wait for a little action!

Go through whichever line is shorter - I aways did with my fiancee; now my wife. All officers deal with residents/non-residents/visitors etc. - so it really doesn't matter which line you go through. Have fun

Well you would be going through immigration, not customs. If you can go together or not depends on the airport. There is usually some immigration officer directing people to the correct lines. Ask them as to which line you should go into.

You can stay together. Different airports segregate the lines differently, and sometimes they change depending on how busy they are at that time of day, so it's hard to give hard and fast rules. If there's a "traffic cop" directing people to lines, definitely ask which line they'd like you to go through.

They'll generally let a US Citizen go through the visitor's line if accompanying a visitor. I've seen visitors turned back when they tried going through the US Citizen/resident line. So if there's no traffic cop to ask, I'd try going through the visitor's line together. That's what we did, and it worked fine.

Expect to be whisked off to secondary inspection anyway, while they process some paperwork.

My husband and I went through the U.S. citizen/resident line together in Miami. When the officer pointed that out (as I handed him hubby's passport), I said that my husband had arrived on a K1 visa and would be emigrating. There was no problem.

Rin (K-3 visa) and I have entered through LAX twice in the past year (April/October). The second time with her children (K-4 visas). Both times we went through the US Citizen line without any problem. Just told the officer that she was my wife. Must be acceptable internationally, as I am now allowed to go through the Thai citizen line with her in Bangkok when we enter/depart Thailand.
