We both moved from Ireland to the U.S. at the same time, so we had an empty apartment to furnish on one wage...it was hard, but we got something big each month and were like big kids admiring our purchase for the next month!

I spent time studying for the PRAXIS teaching exams and getting my Irish Teaching Degree evaluated. And general house stuff here too. I also got used to driving here, so I could at least do the grocery shopping during the day. As it turns out, I am now pregnant, so am holding off on the job hunt for awhile. Now I stay busy with knitting baby stuff :D

I just quit my job since April 10th cuz my visa expired, and it's been only couple of weeks, and I'm going crazy.

We just got a puppy, so first week when I didn't work, I was pretty much watching my puppy poopoo peepee in our apartment and cleaning up which was very very stressful because I never had a puppy before I didn't expect that would be that bad. it was like a lot worse then ever in my life. And now he gets better, but since I can't drive I'm stuck in the apartment watching TV read... can't do much around here... going crazy.

tomorrow is my biometircs finally! hopefully hear something good tomorrow..

I arrived in the US on June 30 last year.

I did not work for 8 months before I found my current temporary job in February this year. This is how I spent my time:

1. Played World of Warcraft

2. Cooked all meals

3. Wrote lots of e-mails (even to my hubby while he was at work)

4. Watched TV

5. Napped

6. Got my learner's permit (and I'm still in the process of learning how to drive)

7. Spent time with my husband's family

I guess I didn't feel bad about doing all that, partly because I had savings with me when I moved, and my hubby will attest I am a low-maintenance person. We weren't ready to send in my AOS and EAD applications till 2 months after our wedding, and when my EAD arrived in Dec, winter was so cold I kinda procrastinated on job hunting. :P

Hmm, come to think of it, I got my temp job the day after I was approved at my AOS interview. So I never had to use my EAD.

I just wonder... you are happy because finally you've been reunited with your loved one, you got married and now... 2 or 3 months with nothing to do.... just watching him or her bust her/his butt working while there's nothing you can do...

So I wonder.... how do you spend that time? I suppose there comes the time where you are totally saturated of reading, watching TV, working out, go shopping, cleaning the house, cooking.... and specially knowing that your better half is financially supporting you while you are not contributing... how do you deal with this? I'm kinda workoholic and I personally hate thinking that I may assume the role of Gabrielle in Desperate Housewives (except for the whole cheating part and the superficialities)... even if its only for a couple of months....

How do you guys dealed with this????????

What exactly are you so pissed about ??

Looking at your timeline it appears that you applied for your EAD before you applied for your AOS. Did this cause you some problems with regards to RFE's etc... ? If so... is this the reason for your frustrations ?

This thread wasn't about people moaning about the wait times for EAD's... after all any knowledge of the visa process will tell you that there is nearly ALWAYS going to be some waiting for work authorization. It was just asking what people did to pass the time while they were waiting for their EAD.

If you have a rant about your own AOS / EAD process then perhaps a better plan would be to start a new thread on that specific topic !!

Mark :)
