Souder, chairman of the House Government Reform subcommittee on drug policy, has said the promotion of medical marijuana "is simply a red herring for the legalization of marijuana for recreational use.
It also said, "There are alternative FDA-approved medications in existence for treatment of many of the proposed uses of smoked marijuana."

That is the bottom line...once they get their foot in the door with medical use the ultimate goal is full legalization.

Weed should be decriminalized for small quantities and private use, but not legalized. Full blown legalization and commercialization is not a good idea. Going down to the local convenience store for a 6 pack of beer and some legal reefer is not of any benefit to mankind, so why do it? IMO legalization = condoning.

Like many from my generation I smoked weed in my youth, but gave it up 25+ years ago and don't miss it at all. It's just another bad habit. There are more constructive ways to relax.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

Do you believe that making weed (or any other drugs) illegal stops anyone who wants to smoke or use them from doing so? Seeing that it apparently didn't stop you? ;)

It should sold atat designate areas. If you are pulled over and have an open joint or pipe it should be treated as an open container and get a small fine.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. There are more constructive ways to relax.

Once upon a time those 'more constructive' ways were frowned upon too. You know, masturbation.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I'm all for it! A friend of mine that was going through chemo a few years ago was terribly sick and would never eat. Docs gave her a pill form of it and it made the nausea go away and she was hungry. Seems like the FDA always takes things off the market that work.
