The names of the parties after their marriage shall be :

Ramdatt Dasrat- .........................Signature of groom affirming name after marriage

And

Padmini Dasrat-............................Signature of bride affirming name after marriage :crying:

In that part I suppose to sign PADMINI DASRAT but I sign PADMINI RAMNAUTH instead in the dotted line :crying:

It doesn't matter that you put your maiden name on your marriage certificate. You are STILL MARRIED.

You can take your husbands name at any time. It's called "Assuming" his name. 98% of married people simply assume their spouse's name instead of legally changing it.

File in your married name, it's OKAY! Relax!!! :)

I know that i'm married to my love , it's just that I sign my marriage certificate wrong using my maiden name :dead:

Are you understanding what people are telling you?

As long as your name matches your husband's last name, NO ONE IS GOING TO QUESTION IT. You will get a green card with your husband's last name on it. No one is going to care if you signed your maiden name on accident, it happens everyday and I've not heard of one person who couldn't assume their husband's name. You have 15+ responses telling you the same thing.

Listen to them.

 Do what you like but it makes no difference.

You can file your AOS in your husbands name, it doesn't matter what is on your marriage certificate.

*sigh*

Mini, this isn't a problem. The way marraiges and divorces work in this country, both names are your legal names. You need to determine what you want to use, and I believe that it's your husband's surname based on your posts, and then have all your documents in that name. Passport, ss card, driver's license, etc. file all your future USCIS documents in that name as well. The way the federal law is written as long as you have a marraige certificate or divorce decree, you can even change back to your maiden name later. My mother did it once all her daughters got married. Technically, they are both legally your names and you can use one, the other, or both. It's now your choice how you file documents. You just need to be consistent or you will run into problems. Don't panic. This isn't a problem at all. And tell him I said to stop stressing you out!

Like Sands Through the Hourglass... So Are the Days of Our Lives.....

A signature need not be legible. However, most people I know try to make their signature legible on marriage certificates and also sign their full name. The last one I signed as witness was that way. I used all three full names and went slowly so all would be legible. The Doctor father who also witnessed had to really slow down and concentrate to make his signature readable. Funny.

A signature is a signature. It could be an X or a scribble.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous
