This is my first time on this website and it is freaking me out! We got married last August in the US. We are now both living in Ireland. I filed my I-130 in November. The other day I sent my notification of readiness DS-2001 and another form that I think was the I-129. We are happy enough to continue living in Ireland until this all goes through, but the only catch is that we are having a big church wedding this summer in the US. After reading this site, I am afraid he will have trouble getting in for the few weeks. Will this be the case? If it is, can I stop the process. I don't really mind if we have to live in Ireland for another year. Aghhh!

You said you have filed your Notice of Readiness, does that mean you are near the interview stage?

If so, I wouldn't worry about not having the visa in time. I'm not up on the K-3 process and how it goes. Are you doing DCF through the Embassy in Dublin? There's a few on here who have gone that route and might have a better idea of timelines for interview.

As for the wedding in the U.S. it's really up to the Officer at Immigration, and I really don't want to worry you anymore, but they are tough in Shannon and Dublin. To be honest, I wouldn't chance it unless you have LOTS of documentation that he will indeed be coming back to Ireland...mortgage, job, car insurace, car tax, etc.

If you click on Ireland in your profile, or mine cos I can't remember if it's in yours, you'll get a list of people that are going/have gone through Dublin.

Do you have legal status in Ireland.. if so, your spouse stands a very good chance of getting through if you are legally resident in Ireland.. in this case, he has no real reason to try to remain in the US since you'll be coming back with him... Make sure that you go through the non-citizen line with him so that you can make your case together...

I'm not sure how your case would go, but as I would see it, if he has a valid passport, with no overstay in the US and can prove as Mand said that he has reasons to return, they should let him in and it is true, they are tough in Shannon and Dublin, but my husband and his family have not had any trouble coming back and forth...Good luck! :D

I never even thought of that, but it makes perfect sense! Enjoy the U.S. wedding (F)

Thanks so much for all of your input! Incidentally, it was actually the DS-230 and not the I-129 that I filed. I do have legal status in Ireland and am working here at the moment. I am hoping that will help! Also, we are ready for the interview, but have not been given notice and he has not had the medical (which apparently doesn't happen until we are given a date?). It would be awesome if it was all finished by the time we go over for the church wedding. I will follow your advice and try to get in touch with some people who have done the K-3 visa through Dublin and know approximate wait times. If anyone reading this knows, I would appreciate an idea of how long it takes from the time the DS-230 and the 2001 are filed to the time to the interview. Thanks again for all your help. I feel better!
