I am a US citizen filing for my wife who lives in Australia. We were married there. We filed the I-130 on May 18, 2007. In September they requested a different type of marriage certificate approved by the Australian civil authority. I requested it from Australia, mailed it to Vermont and they posted receipt of it on October 11, 2007. They said I should have an answer or a request for more information within 60 days, that was one month ago on December 11, 2008. I called and they said that they cant look into my case until the processing times are more than one month after I filed, which is June 18 and they are currently on June 6th. Should I worry, or is this usual? I was married a year ago and I have seen my wife once since our marriage, anyone with advice please send it my way!

Thanx!

Alex

The 60 days just covers their butts. Usually they proceed pretty quickly after receiving the requested evidence. I suspect you are caught in the holida slow down, vacations and all.
