Well we received the letter from the NVC re Husband's upcoming interview.

This is the part I am concerned about. On the last page it lists all the documents received, for the Canadian Police Certificate it says: Exempted/Document not needed.

I'm just wondering, with anyone else who has recently received said type of letter, did they get this right on yours? I've emailed MTL to confirm they in fact do have it.

wow they got a new letter, cool!! Good to know what they have!! When i got mine it just stated if you "hadn't" sent it in, bring it,lol Left ya guessing what paperwork they had!! No help on ur Cdn Police cert, but prob best to bring one with ya!! Better to have to much paperwork, than not enough!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yes, I agree - if I don't hear back from Montreal with a confirmation that they have it, then it's off to the police station again.

Edit: wow, just received a reply back from MTL in record time. They don't get the files until the end of the month, so they asked me to write back then and they will check for me - however that's cutting it kind of close.

They also said: If you did send your police certificates to the National Visa center then they would indeed be in your file.

but...hmmm

They should have it ,but................................ lol Like I stated back in 2004 when I was going through the CR-1 they didnt list what documents they had, so on edidnt have a comfy feeling!! Thus why I had doubles of all originals!!!

This is the same as the letter I received for my parents and it was correct as I recall. I don't think they missed anything. If at the interview, they'll have all the documents, I really can't say. But it looks good to me.

cool, so they also said 'not required' for your parents CDN police cert?

No, it stated "Original Document Received." They probably have it. I know I was asked about another police certificate for Mom and I just told the lady that she didn't need it and after a bit of looking the CO didn't ask for it again. I think for peace of mind you can ask MTL but I assume you kept a copy of the certificate just in case.

Forget what I wrote above (my larynx dropped into my #######, it happens to the best of us). There's a spacing problem on my sheets too. In your case AUSTRALIAN POLICE CERTIFICATE should be on one line but to save space (paper) they continued in one column but didn't bother to lock the two columns together or make a wide enough column. I guess there isn't enough money in the coffers to learn how to use Word. Your form actually reads ORIGINAL DOCUMENT RECEIVED. Line them up and you'll see that IRS WAIVER lines up with EXEMPTED/DOCUMENT NOT NEEDED.

Hi trailmix,

I received similar letter from the nvc; however, my Canadian Police Certificate was listed. It might be that for reasons best known to the nvc, they decided that the Canadian Police Certificate is not necessary for your particular case. I'm not show about that anyway. Good luck!

Henry!

Similar question here, stated as "exempted/docu not needed" but for the France PC ("missing document" as they put it) for which they require it (their instructions) only if stayed more than 12 months, in my case I stayed not more than 9 months that i have still send them. (delay 3 weeks approx).

As for Canadian PC they stated on the checklist: Original Docu Received, as for other originals i sent them.

Overall, i wonder what other documents they ask, the checklist doesn't say it, other than if i have other originals, which i don't have, they have all of them. The only thing i can provide is only the copies of all i've sent them. Right?

CR-1, VT- Canada

I-130:

28 Aug 06 - NOA1 & Certif. receipt returned ( a Monday) Day 1

29 Aug 06 - USCIS cashes check

30 Aug 06 - check cleared & 1ST TOUCH.

01 Sept 06 - NOA1 recvd by Mail

09 Sept 06 - 2ND TOUCH (a Saturday)

09 Mai 07 - NOA2 (2 e-mails)

Note: were told the long delay due to huge backlog and internal changes in VT

NVC :

04-June-07 - NVC generates DS-3032 & AOS bill

12-June-07 - AOS Bill payment sent/ alien receives DS-3032 form (by mail, dated 4th June)

13-June-07 - Alien sends back completed DS-3032 (by mail)/ rcvd 19th of June approx.

To mid July-07 - I-864 form sent completed and IV fee bill

19-July-07 NVC rcv I-864 form; mail signature rcvd.

22-Aug-07 Ds-230 with documents sent to NVC.

20-Sep - 07 Alien sends NVC Missing document. NVC receives it the 25th.

05-Oct - 07 NVC completed.

16-Jan - 08 Interview, 3 questions asked, visa approved same day, received 1week later approx.

Note: delay due to internal delay, missing document (not rfe) and self procrastination of understanding some abstract terms. C Post not at all reliable (delivery duration, delivery with signature (did not deliver personnaly), and delivery of interview letter rcvd after the interview).

There are no other documents to bring. Interestingly in the interview letter on page 2 it says:

Any original documents that were requested by the NVC but were not submitted to the NVC must be brought to the visa interview.

Then on page 5 it contradicts that and says:

Please note that even though the applicant may have provided the NVC with a copy of a document, the applicant is still required to bring the original document to the visa interview

Then it lists the documents and whether they were received or not.

I think what they REALLY mean is that if it says they didn't receive it, even though you sent it, you have to bring the original.

Does anyone proof read this stuff?
