Why are stories like this taking up so much of the news time when gas is $3 a gallon, US troops are getting killed daily, key players in the Bush Administration are stepping down, and support is gaining for an impending battle with Iran? (Not to mention that North Korea has nukes already, there is genocide occuring in Africa as we speak, the Nepalese government is shooting to kill, Hu Jintao is censoring media reports about his visit here, Hugo Chavez has a television special every week..... and what about baseball?)

Come on news media. Grow some balls. Report on real issues.

Not in the media, that's for sure.

I did learn of all this in the news media.

My point in all of this is that stories like the Duke Rape Case get about 4 minutes of coverage, while stories like the war in Iraq, or the 2,397 American servicemembers killed get a 15 second quip.

Stick to media that makes you read. That way you can pick what you spend your time on.

I agree. I get more info from the internet (and foreign sites, at that) than I do from the American news media.

They're making a big stink today about the Chinese media censoring the protestor during Jintao's speech, when what they do here is "sure, we'll report the news... but we'll down-play the major issues.. and stick to the bullshit."

Actually I think it was a public service announcement......I mean....we all need to know when a insane person has a baby. It's for our own protection.
