Ok... so I recieved news this morning that we have our visa appointment set! We were so excited! We are also very anxious to get to the states. I wanted to see if anyone had any experience buying tickets before the interview. I know that they advise against it, but I am sure that we have everything in order, and would like to buy tickets now to save some money and some time after. Has anyone had any experience with this? any input? Thanks!

I took the gamble and booked the tickets, before interview. But as others say never plan on a smooth interview and book the tickets after the interview at least for the person being interviewed. This way is the consular officer denies the visa and requests additional evidence you wont get hit for either canceling or re-booking the flight.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

If you by your tickets in advance, I would allow about two weeks (according to the Agent I had) before departing to make sure you actually have your visa in hand by then.

I had my interview last Friday and was advised to wait two weeks to be sure. However, my husband bought me a ticket for this Friday...and thankfully my visa arrived today.
