It can take some time for consulate to receive and then send out instruction packet to foreign beneficiary 6-8 weeks.

NVC should send petitioner an I-864 packet to return, petitioner and joint sponsor should prepare I-864s to send to NVC.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

6-8 weeks is a generic message. It should take 2-4 weeks since the case number for US citizen petitioner to receive AOS Fee Bill and Choice of Agent (DS 3032) form (if you do not have any lawyer assigned). The beneficiary will also receive correspondence from NVC. Please read the NVC shorcut.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Both the beneficiary and petitioner will receive the DS-3032 (Choice of Agent form) and AOS fee bill. You will then have to choose who will the choice of agent be, either you or your spouse. Most people choose the US citizen since the US mail system is more reliable than other countries. After you send back the form and the bill you will receive the I-864 coversheet, then the IV Bill and last but not least the DS-230. You and your co-sponsor can start filling out these forms now and have them ready if you want to.
