The below book can be found in barnes and noble also (that is where we found it). It has pictures, the English word, and the Russian word for every day objects.

My wife english moving along quite nicely but this will help fill in those missing bits and give her a more practical vocabulary reference. I like it becaue I can use it to determine Russian words for every day objects. Wooo Hooo a dual purpose book!!!!

Looks like a good buy.

One thing that we've done is to post "stickies" or Post-It notes on things with both English and Russian on them. We also have several sheets hanging up with new words that we change out from time-to-time.

Wow, both excellent ideas. I'm going to drive my roommate crazy now with post-it notes...

I'm working on pronouns right now. My brain hurts *so* much...

The more you speak it, the more you'll get used to it. Eventually the wrong thing just feels weird to hear/say.

Russian is a VERY difficult language to learn by memorization. I've found that most of the inflections happen for pronunciation reasons. So, if you just let yourself go a bit, you'll sound like an ape at first, but you'll find yourself speaking more correctly... "Use the Force Luke"... lol. But seriously, just try rambling. I remember one time I was getting into a heated political talk with my professor and just started going on and on. Eventually she just started laughing because, for months she'd been training me with pronouns and verb conjugations, and in this talk I spoke with near perfection -- or so she insists (I'm not sure I believe her ;) ). I never was able to reattain that level, however, but now that the professor knows its in there, she's very unsympathetic.

I guess I can't walk and chew gum at the same time :(

My Alla and her mother always joke that my Russian improves significantly after drinking. I know why. Less fear. Russian is intimidating. If you aren't afraid to make mistakes, you'll learn quicker.

I'm no expert in Russian language but from my limited capabilities all pronouns (or any other words for that matter) can be substituted with a perfectly good curse word and the point will be readily understood. Perhaps even giving you a "native" feel for the language.

And I've gotta agree with Jeffery, drinking sure helps me out too!
