we both like our own free time alone without the other person. neil has stuff he likes to do that I wouldn't even dream of doing. he can do it alone. screw that. he also has a bank account in the UK that doesn't have my name on it but who cares? we fight a lot but usually over stupid stuff but that's life. we're pretty laid back and don't even have a 1 month plan so screw a 5yr plan. anyways, that'sjust us. we're happy!

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

I will not ignore rule 1. It is our life and we share name, account, and life. Can't share? IMHO, stay single. I also will not ignore rule 4. Some free time alone is good, too much reverts back to my earlier statement, stay single than. You'll always have free time. Marriage is about joining and sharing everything!

There's a difference between what works for you and what works for others, as meowmix pointed out. Some -- nay, most -- people would say what you're proposing sounds completely smothering and suffocating.

Exactly. If we had to join and share everything, there's no way I would have married in the first place. My parents merged their finances and my mom regrets it everyday - doesn't mean they won't be celebrating their 25th joyous year of marriage soon.

We are well aware of how much money there is between the two accounts, and someday will probably have an account both of us use for household bills etcetera esp when I go back to school full time, but: to suggest that one way is more invalid than another is ridiculous.
