What if cancels process?

I hear there are smart peoples in this forum so I'm going to try here.

My brother went to US on a student visa. He got married a few months ago and began for adjustment for status. Unfortunately he does not think thing are going to work out with his wife. I am trying to advise him. He says he will leave once he has travel doc. Is that bad? I am scared for him that if he cancels process he will never be allowed back for vacations? Is it better if he waits til green card arrive to leave? Thank you

Canceling AOS will not ban a person from being able to re-enter the USA.

If by travel documents, your brother is referring to the Advance Parole (AP), then there's no need for him to wait for that if he is intending to cancel his AOS application. He can leave any time.

A canceled AOS will not affect future visa applications of your brother unless if his student visa has expired and he has incurred over 6 months overstay. He could be subject to a few years bar from re-entry into the US because of the visa overstay.
