Petitioner has never been to Beneficiary's country

Hi all.....

One quick question :unsure:

Is it really a big deal if my fiance (USC) has never been to my country or met my family and friends? We have discussed about this and we have kind of decided that we should save the $$ for our wedding and other expenses when I get there instead of spending a whole lot for a trip to my country. My family has no problem with him not coming since they will be traveling to the US to attend our wedding. I have already met his family when I was in the US for a vacation, once. So the question is, do you think it will somehow affect us during the interview?

You met in person within the time frame (2 years I think), doesn't matter if it wasn't in beneficiary's country. Just need the evidence of you meeting in person and ongoing relationship. The embassy just wants to be sure you have a bona fide relationship. I (USC) did go to my fiance's country but I did not meet his family and it was OK. He did not come here.

As long as you've met in person (within the last 2 years), whether in each other's countries or not, you're OK.

I know of some who have not been to either one's country (met in a third country) and have gone on to a happy life together in the US. Meeting the parents (or not) doesn't have an affect. :thumbs:

You'll be fine. As long as you've met in person within two years of filing, you've satisified the requirement. Whether in her country, yours, Caribbean, or the moon! :jest:

You should be fine. I haven't been to my beneficiary's country yet either, and don't suspect it will be a problem. We have yet to reach the interview.

In my case, we have statements from both parents stating they support the relationship and marriage. This might help, but is probably not needed.
