An Egyptian Bank Account

Do any USC's have a bank account in Egypt? Do you share it with your spouse as a joint account? Does anyone have any idea what banks in Egypt are compatible with banks in the US? When you need to send money back and forth what do you use?

Thanks for the help!

i don't have an account, but i know that citi bank is there..also, most likely, hsbc...i think...

we usually send it over with a friend or something...we don't really send money back and forth so often though....

there's also western union...i think...

sorry for the vague response... if you go to citibank's website, you can read more about their accounts in egypt...

There’s a waltz in my walk

And it’s been such a long time

Since there was hope in my talk

If you never knew

What it is that’s new.. it’s you

‘Cause when your hands are in mine

You set a fire that everyone can see

And it’s burning away

Every bad memory

To tell you the truth

If it’s something new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

The world’s a different place

Where nothing’s too hard to say

And nothing’s too hard to do

Never too much to go through

To tell you the truth

Everything that’s new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

My life, my life

Ohh

So if I get to grow old (oh if I get to grow old)

With many years behind me (many years behind me)

There’s only one thing I want (aahh)

One thing I need beside me

For all that you are

For everything you do

For all that you’ve done

Just for showing me the truth

Oh wow! Perfect! Thx!

I didn't know citibank was anything but a credit card with a call center here. I did a search and in my area it's called US Bank which is really popular. I'm going to see about getting a joint account there then with Waleed so he can access it from Egypt. I wonder how that works; international banking and all? :P

That sounds good, Olivia.

I have done international transfers before (back and forth from Mexico while I was there) and they were pretty easy. It depends on what you're wanting to do with the account as to what will work for you guys. But, if he has an account here, you can wire transfer him the money from your account whenever he needs it or every 2 or 3 months (or something like that ). Also, with some banks you can order a second ATM/credit card and send it to him. Check with your banks also to see if he has to sign something in order for you to do it.

Good luck !!!

P.S. - Are you planning on sending $4000 ? That would be nice ! (Just kidding. Don't answer that personal question.)

I dont know if this is true or not, but I have read other threads where it was an issue with immigration when the USC sends money over to their spouse/fiancee overseas. I am not sure why and what the reasons were, or if this is actually true but I have read more than one thread about it and I just wanted to bring it up so you could look into it, I would hate for you to have any issues.

My bank would not add anyone without a valid social security number and appearing in person.

What we did was get a prepaid visa/mastercard...i was able to add him without this information and send him the card. I simply add funds for a small fee and he can withdraw from any ATM. Saves us so much on transfer fees and western union fees. You can pick one up at most convenience stores, CVS or Rite Aide.
