I think you should wait to see what your levels are like once you get home and then take it from there. You're not in your usual environment, nor have you been following your normal diet. Get home, give it a couple of weeks, and if you are still really thirsty go to your doctors.

Tea contains caffeine, btw, which acts as a diuretic. Stick to water if you can.

Also could mean diabetes.

Im thinking that too.

Maybe worth getting your sugar levels checked, although if its only a short term thing then it could be just the fact your body is dehydrated. Any prolonged thirst should be looked into though.

It started since the OP has been fasting.... in another country.

Not exactly a red flag for a "condition" of any sort.

Out of curiousity (and it's really none of my business), why are you fasting?

You're in Egypt, so there is all this great food to be had...and it's not Ramadan (though I know that many people will fast to make up for days missed during Ramadan)...

Enjoy your last few days traveling and I wouldn't worry about your thirstiness unless it continues when you get home. Sometimes we get thirsty simply because of a change in weather (is it really dry there? I know it is super dry here during the winter) or unfamiliar diet,

Bon voyage!

Are you still in Egypt? If yes....then it's that dry air. I drank like a fish every time I was there. The spicy food made me drink a lot too. On a serious note though, excessive thirst can be a sign of diabetes.

Seriously, you should be checked for diabetes. Have you been tired a lot too? Sleeping more than normal? This is also a sign.

Well it started once I got here I noticed about a week into my trip here. Since I've been fasting, I have just been craving water :(

Well if you continue to be thirsty after the next few days, I would def have it checked out. A friend of mine - he was tired for about a year, sleeping 12 hrs every day. Then he became really thirsty - he was admitted to hospital because his blood sugar was completely out of whack. He is now an insulin dependent diabetic and if he had waited any longer, he couldve gone into a coma.

No to scare you by any means - but better to be safe than sorry!

Thanks Converse. If I'm not back to normal when I get back home, I will definitely have a work-up done.

Sorry if I sound ignorant to why you are fasting, but I'd seriously consider to stop fasting and start eating normal and drinking all day, and then see what happens to your body.

It is a sign of diabetes(also not trying to scare you), but my husband just got diabetes(type 2) a few months ago out of nowhere. It was extremely shocking. He wasn't overweight, didn't even like sweets that much. He started getting very thirsty all day long, and also started losing weight without trying. This went on for a month or two before we thought, hmm something isn't right. We bought a blood sugar machine and his sugar was very high, and we made an appt with a Dr immediately. You don't have to fit into the typical idea of what kind of person can get diabetes, it can sneak up on anyone unfortunately.

That's why I think it's very important you stop fasting because if you have diabetes, fasting is one of the worst things to be doing b/c your sugar levels will be abnormal during the day and skyrocketing after meals. You have to see if it's just the fasting causing your thirst or something else like diabetes.
