Hi All

My first post here ! Yesterday my girlfriend (now my fiancee) sent I-129F to VSC. She was sort of overwhelmed with so many forms and goofed up.

When she wrote her personal check, she addressed it to "U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services" instead of United States Department of Homeland Security.

She does not even remember it v well. I am sitting across the globe and for past two days I was up till 4 AM while she prepared the papers. When she told me

she got everything, I went to hit bed and now she made a mistake. I don't want her to feel bad but I think the forms would be returned ?

What's your opinion on this.

There's one thing I would like to ask about : I-129F Ques. 16 : If your fiancé(e)'s native alphabet uses other than Roman letters, write his or her name and address abroad in the native alphabet". What does this mean ? My native language is not English but I hardly use my native language. And how can my fiancee write in my native language ?

She only knows English ? Just don't know what they want to ask here ??

AND, I am real upset when I noticed the time interval from NOA1 to 2 : around 4 mths.

I hope for the best and trying to smile !

First welcome to VJ and congrats on your engagement.

Yes it is a long process and you have to be patient but it will be over eventually.

The check being addressed wrong...I don't know what's going to happen to be honest and I hope someone else could advice you better but it would make sense for them to just ask for the right payment.

Good luck to you and welcome to the "hurry up and wait" club

You are fine!

Directly from the USCIS website:

"Fees should be made payable to Department of Homeland Security or U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services."

The entire process will take around 6 to 8 months. Sometimes longer sometimes shorter.

Best of Luck and Congratulations!!! :)

I have to tell you 4 months is being very optimistic. For me from NOA1 to having the Visa in hand will have taken 8 months. From NOA1 to NOA2 was almost 6 months. There's always a chance yours could be quicker, I just don't want you to get frustrated when you don't have NOA2 in your hands in 4 months. ;)

You are most welcome! :)

Did you guys leave that blank when you sent it in or did she put N/A?

I don't think it's a huge deal since you mainly speak English. If you do get an RFE for it (request further evidence) you could always type out your name and address in your native language, sign and date it and send it to her to mail in.

You could even do that now just in case to eliminate the wait time of it being sent by mail and if she does get an RFE, she has it right with her and can just pop it back in the mail to them.

Good Luck (F)
