Hi

Okay so I am now ready to mail my AOS pack out,I have all the forms filled in and all the things I need to submit.

So I was wondering do I make just one check of 1010 Dollars? I read somewhere that somebody wrote like 2 differant that added up to 1010.

I did the AP and everything else.

I mail all the documents to the same place right?

I live in Missouri so it goes to the lockbox in Nebraska or smth like that right?

Just to clear up any confusion the above post may cause, the mailing address Lona gave is correct, but the CA should be IL in the first sentence.

Exactly...no matter where you are you're mailing AOS to Chicago P.O. Box....If you read the instructions for form I-495 it actually tells you that same address mentioned above.

Now about the payment. You can do money order through USPS. I did it in two payments because the maximum they can do for a money order is $1000. So I had two money orders. One was for $1000 and one was for $10 and it was accepted with no problems. Other than that according to the instructions you can't send personal checks. It has to be of some certain type or something. To eliminate any confusion I just made money order through the post office.

Good luck

I-485 my bad

And in certain areas there are lots of other places that do money orders as well - here in Florida, Amscot will do them for free (only pay the face value of the MO)

Did they accept it or you don't know yet?

I don't know for sure yet, but this is right from the I-485 instructions

What Is the Filing Fee?

The filing fee for a Form I-485 is $930.00.

An additional biometric fee of $80.00 is required when filing this Form I-485. After you submit Form I-485, USCIS will notify you about when and where to go for biometric services.

The fee is $930.00 only (no biometrics fee required) for applicants under 14 years who submits Form I-485 independent from other family members.

The fee for a child under the age fourteen years will be$600.00 when submitted concurrently for adjudication with the application of a parent under sections 201(B)(A)(i), 203(a)

You may submit one check or money order for both the application and biometric fees, for a total of $1010.00.

You're probably right. For some reason I recall reading the instructions sometimes when I submitted and reading something about the fact that there shouldn't be any personal checks? They have to be of some special kind? I might be hallucinating but I remember even my hubby reading them and deciding that we should go for a MO. I don't know.

Well since it said check or money order, I assumed personal checks would be fine. I submitted a personal check for our K1 and I actually just renewed my USC passport with one - no issues. But, there is never any question with a money order.

The only thing I really hate about money orders is if you need to refund it. For example, everything is supposed to be made out to the Department of Homeland Security. But what if you made it out to INS or if the government comes up with a new name this week, you better hope you still have the money order receipt!

I'll let you know when the check clears (hopefully with our case number stamped on the back!).

Oh it will probably clear. I mean I did save the receipts for the money order and anything I have related to the immigration case for that matter. I don't see you having any problems. Let me know so I would know what to advice VJers next time ;)

I hope you get that NOA soon!!!!!
