Thank you guys! I mean..it doesn't have to be a Tempur Pedic...I didn't even know there were actually others making cheaper versions of basically the same thing. I have an Ikea 5 minutes away from our house, I will go and check it out later on today along with a couple other places to see what other brands are out there.

We are just soooo desperate I'd set my nasty mattresses on fire!

I'll tell you, for a few months, we were sleeping on a Coleman air mattress...it wasn't too bad but if the air pressure was slightly down, my back would be stiff as a board the next morning. I just didn't want to go out and buy any old box spring mattress (I hate 'em) and then one day when we were at IKEA, I saw the foam mattresses on display, sat on them and I was sold. :)

Good luck! You can buy their top of the line foam mattress and still save a fortune over getting the Tempurpedic.

My back is "screaming" as I type... :crying: It's really bad, I can't take it anymore and I really need some sleep since I have a toddler (who btw weights well over 27 lb at the moment, which doesn't help my back at all....) to chase around the house all day by myself, which is FUN don't get me wrong...but tiring!!!

Restless sleep makes your life miserable... :(

So everyone supposedly rave about them... we slept on it for one night when we were guests as someone elses's house and I must say it probably was the best sleep I have ever had, although I was exhausted too (pregnant and nauseous after a long flight). I know they are kinda pricy but so are GOOD mattresses in general and me and hubby are so desperate right now we are willing to spend what it takes in order to sleep GOOD. We look at it as an investment I suppose. :P Right now we own 2 beds which both have the WORST possible kind of mattresses possibly in the world, both brand names too go figure... one is too hard and "breaks" each and every single bone in your body, the other one is a pillow top which destroys your neck/back. It's awful...We wake up unrested, almost feels like more tired than the night before, achy all over and in a daze... :help::crying:

What's cool about Tempur Pedic is that they let you try it at home for 90 days for free and after the trial you can decide whether to keep it or return it for free...so we'll end up doing that regardless, but I'd like to hear if people on here know anything first hand about them. When you talk to sales people they want you to believe that even stone would make you feel good if that's what they sell...

Anyways...If anyone here owns one of these Swedish miracles, please let me know if you are satisfied with it and if you think it's worth the money it costs.

Thank you so much in advance from a very once-again-tired-in-the-morning Churipu. (F)

We have a Tempur Pedic system. After a conventional matress -it took some getting used to at first, but seriously, IMO tempur Pedic is worth the money. Mark and I are both tall, long legs and long backs, and it's great, to finally feel comfortable with no aching hips/back/shoulders/neck every morning.

We have had ours for about 3 years now.

About the 90 day return thing. Be wary of that. If you choose to return it, you pay the shipping/freight. No idea what happens to the returned ones though  -- bargainland liquidation on Ebay, maybe? YUCK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

It's a flat rate of 175$, not bad at all IMO. I called them earlier today to ask about it.

Thanks for your input too, I soooo want one!!!!

WOW $175 is not bad at all to get to try it out first...Go for it...:D It does take alittle time to get used to, 90 days should get your mind made up :) A good bed is an investment, and a good night's sleep is priceless.....Go on, you deserve it! ;)

They said you have to order the set you choose and pay for it, or get financed basically, then after 90 days if you decide to return it they refund the cost of it entirely minus the flat 175$ rate for shipping.

You are absolutely right about looking at it as an investment, we definately want to get something good that will last us too. And yes...a good night sleep IS INDEED priceless...not that I remember how it feels these days...lol

So three years, how is it holding up? No dips in the bed, still looks like new or?

I'm sure they probably destroy the returned mattresses - can't have a bunch of 'old tempurpedic mattress going cheap slightly used' items on the market, bad for business :hehe:

yeah, If you do choose to do it--KEEP ALL RECEIPTS--incase you do return, so you can reverse the charge on your bank account/credit card or financing easier.

I bought an 8" Memory foam mattress from Overstock.com and we've been sleeping on it about a month or so now. I LOVE it! And it only cost me $360 (with pillows!) including shipping (I bought it when they were having their $1 shipping sale, no returns allowed on beds, but I took a chance and I'm glad I did!). Both my husband and I have slept better on it than the old spring mattress we had, and I only get numb arms now if I actually sleep curled up on it, rather than just from springs poking at me. I have fibromyalgia and my husband has rhumatoid arthritis in his hips, both of us are constantly in pain, but this bed really does help a lot. There's no motion transfer, so if he's tossing and turning, or if the dogs jump up to sleep with us, I don't get tossed out of bed or sucked into a hole (as the smallest being in the house, this is important to me! ;) ) Plus, the memory foam (all brand types do AFAIK) has some sort of anti-microbial and is resistent to dust mites, so if you suffer from allergies or its an extra bonus!

When it was delivered it was all rolled up and the air sucked out of it for shipping. We just rolled it out onto our old box-spring foundation (which we will also replace at some point, but Overstock didn't have matching foundations) and let it expand for a couple of hours before we put the sheets on and went to bed. It has a bit of a rubbery chemical smell to it the first night, but its gone fairly quickly. The first night if you're nauseous from pregnancy, you may want to sleep somewhere else until the smell is gone. Other than that, I have nothing bad to say about it! We've even been able to turn down our thermostat because this bed is warmer than the old one. We usually end up kicking the blankets off!

Thanks Reba!As soon as hubby comes home from work we are going to look at all these other places you guys mentioned and see all the different options.

BTW I am not pregnant now, my son is almost 2, when I slept on it that one night I was ;)

I heard good things about those too, although they look exactly like my pillow top piece of ####### mattress and I guess that scares me...lol Although I realize it is not the same kind of stuff.
