NVC sent me a (DS-230) missing document checklist letter on Nov 28, 2007. I replied on Dec 14. They got the reply on Dec 17th.

They have just sent a reminder letter (arrived Jan 3rd) saying that I have not responded.

Is it necessary to reply to the last letter or have the letters just crossed at the NVC?

Also, does anyone know how long it might take until my interview in Montreal. Case is still at NVC.

Thanks

My advice would be to not ignore the letter. I would recommend you call the NVC, confirm with the operator that they have in fact received it and even then, I would ask to be put through to a supervisor.

You may get a little resistance from the original operator, when you ask to speak to a supervisor, just be firm.

I listened to operators tell me for over a month to ignore an RFE for something I had already sent - maybe they really did have it, maybe they didn't (kind of a long story I won't bore you with), but the fact is the file just sat there until I responded to the RFE and sent the document (for the 3rd time) and then contacted a supervisor who personally looked in to it for me.

Thanks for the advice above! I had difficulty getting through to the NVC before (It would be great if the letters mentioned that they are closed on weekends.)

Phoned last night and they told me my case was completed on Jan 4th!!!! Huge relief. They told me that those cases completed in January probably get scheduled for interview in February. The NVC schedules interviews for the Montreal Consulate in the last two weeks of each month. So I hope to be going there in early Feb...

Hey that's great, congratulations! Sounds like whomever was handling your file had it under control

I notice they told you that they book during the last two weeks of the month, unless they have just changed it (since last month) it is always the 2nd week of the month.

In December they were booking for mid-February (I know this because my Husband got his interview for mid-feb). But you never know! One other thing, when you call NVC to see if they have booked your interview, if it is after the 2nd week they may tell you that the bookings have all been done for the month, call back in February. If this happens, go ahead and call back on like the Wednesday of the following week. We have found that they are not always done and that the NVC operators (most of them) just assume they are, without checking.

Good luck!
