A question about when to file

I posted this question in another area here at Visa Journey & was advised to post it here...

Hi everyone...

I feel so stupid... I have a dumb question & I'm not sure where to ask it... Please forgive me as I have no idea where to look for the info.

I am a US citizen by birth - My Canadian Husband has been a permanent resident here in the USA for almost 2yrs now. Living & working here.

He wants to apply for his US Citizenship but I can't remember for the life of me how long he has to be here or how many work hours he needs before applying. Can anyone tell me???

Are there any good websites to help with the entire process - I am so confused...

I was told that it is 3yrs from the original visa date - Does this mean that it's at the begging of the 3yrs or the end of the 3rd year? What about hours worked??? I know that I read somewhere or someone told us that he could apply once he got enough workable hours here in the USA??? If hours can be used & it could let him file earlier (?) would it be a slower process or is it about the same??? Any info would be greatly appreciated... Also can anyone give me an estimate as to how long the process usually goes once he files?

90 days from start of third year. has to be LPR for 3 years before can naturalize if married to a US Citizen, and 5 years if not.

Work hours has to do with the I-864 that you filed to sponsor the immigrant, immigrant has to work 40 quarters in order for the I-864 to no longer be in affect, they have nothing to do with filing for naturalization.

Now you confused me a bit, it is 90 days from END of 3rd year, because has to be LPR for THREE years before can naturalize.

Thank you so very much... You have helped me out so much... It seems as though we don't have to worry about all this headache /stressful stuff for another year... Maybe by then I'll be better prepared...
