Can a guy add to this? I will.

I noticed most of the posts are from girls/ladies/women. You know what I mean. So here is something from a guy. What do I think about when I miss my missus? I will list two:

Firstly, I go through the pictures of us on my phone. Particularly the one I took of her while she was asleep. Looking all so chilled, reminding me of all the reasons why I am crazy about this woman. I have got one of those PDA phones, with the camera and huge screen that even lets one zoom in to pics. So I get to zoom in and take a closer look. Enough details for now…

Secondly, I think of one particular visit of mine to New York. It was a Friday and relatively quiet at work. By the way, this is in London. Right about lunch time I got an email advertising unbelievable flights to NY. So I called my brother-in-law (her brother in NY) and told him I was going to make a surprise visit, so he could pick me up at JFK. So I left the office, picked up a few things at home and caught a 4pm GMT flight and was in NY by 6.30pm EST. Her bro got me at the airport and we were home by 8pm.

Before I go on, you must understand that my missus is not use to surprises like this. She wasn’t expecting me in NY for another, maybe, 3 weeks. My/our flights are usually booked weeks/months ahead. She says I am a very organized person.

Anyway, so I arrived at the apartment and walked into the living room. I remember she was with a few friends and family watching the BET channel on TV. She said hello to her bro and then froze when she saw me. Then she started pacing backwards away from me and was looking around. I learnt later that at this time she was trying to confirm that every one in the room could knew I was there. She thought I was a ghost or something and was scared.

By this time, I realized or confirmed just how fragile she could be. So I walked up and gave her hug. You know the mushy details. With her slender arms around my neck, her heart still beating and the mixed look of surprise and elation on her face, I knew I would never forget this particular visit. I think of this day quite often.

Not long after this trip, we decided it was better if I moved to the US.

 I can't begin to say how happy I am with my honey.

He is a very wise man and always has good advice to give. His protective care over me and loving kindness make me feel secure. While I was with him he fanned me when I was hot, cooked my food, held my water bottle, held me, attacked and killed an intruder ( a rat in the toilet that came from the outside pipe ) while I was screaming, washed my underwear, made the beds, scrubbed the floor and just was a sweetheart.

He would like to maybe live in Germany where my Mom lives one day and always makes sure to remind me to call her.

He is a very good father for his teenage daughter and keeps the suitors trembling. ;) He will walk all night in a drenching downpour to

make sure she is ok ( long story ).

In all our conversations he has to tell me he loves and misses me. He send me his favorite love songs and bought me a beautiful dress and

many other things incl. an engagement ring that left me breathless and in tears.........way back in 2005. I thought I was the happiest woman on earth. Almost three years later and I still feel the same way.

He tells me to call him at any time and has 2 phones in case one sim doesn't work the other one will ( networks are terrible ).

He can't stand to be unemployed and wants to provide for me now and submit an application to go to dangerous Congo to work

for a few months before the second interview. I begged him not to but he wants to be a man and provide. Hoping he will stay put.

My man is special and most of all loves God and volunteering for the pastor. He is kind and generous and gives even if it means there is nothing left for him. He puts others first and himself last.

I have become a better person over the last 3 years because of him. I am ready to spoil him, submit to him and watch our purpose in God

unfold.

We are not perfect but I admire his drive to communicate and navigate through misunderstandings and gain clarity. If he is unhappy with me he

will tell me like it is and then the light bulb comes on for me and I am like duh that was ridiculous of me to do or say that and he is right.

He has everyone convinced I have the IQ of an Einstein ( yeah right ) and brags about me.

He is my best friend who never tires to listen.

Another thing I love about my fiance is how much he wants to take care of me.

I have been independent for a long time taking care of myself and doing things for myself. I am also the oldest sibling and used to being responsible and no nonesense and stuff like that. My fiance, on the other hand, has older and younger siblings. He was the youngest child for some time and so he got spoiled a little. We know this about each other and accept them and I think it helps us deal with each other when certain issues come up.

And even though I have taken care of myself for 9 years (2 years of which I lived with my sisters and acted as mom/housekeeper/maid for a little while) he makes me call him when I travel, no matter the time. When I drive somewhere he calls or texts to check on me.

Something that I absolutely love.

I thought of another Bassi story when I was reading your post. Bassi checks on me a lot and like you it's different because I've been the caretaker for so long. I've never had my own caretaker. But if I call Bassi from the car, he CHASTIZES me! I LOVE IT!! It always always always makes me smile. He has a near heart attack that I'm talking while driving and do I know how dangerous that is and is the baby in the car and what's so important that you can't wait until you get where you're going and on and on and on. It's so sweet. He gets so upset. Even if he's the one that called me...because I shouldn't have answered if I was driving. I explained that I am wearing a headset (cause it's the law). He doesn't care. It's too dangerous. I get chewed out every time and I love it so much that I call him when I'm in the car just so he can "yell" at me. It's love. :luv:

While in Senegal my sweetie prepared breakfast each morning, at various times I felt like a child when we were out on the roads. But once I got back home and though things over I realized how helpful he was. Funny how we become so immune to help or companionship and when it shows up we can not accept it. I did let him know that I was thankful to all his attentiveness while I was there and even when we are on web cams. I hope this remains for all of us that makes this journey.:thumbs:

WOW u guys! This is killing me here! My husband was so amazing when I was there with him. We never took our hands off each other. Either holding hands or having our arms around each other. He always had to make sure I was ok. He would even fan me when we didnt have power! He traveled miles on the back of a bike just to try to find me some ice! They only had block ice so he toted that on his lap back to the house and sat there and chiseled it down so I could have a glass of ice cold diet coke! The first time i tried to wash clothes, my knuckles got rubbed raw and bled, so he refused to let me do it anymore the whole 3 months i was there! We also had no running water..and he would fetch the bath water for me every day. He cooked almost the entire time I was there, and every night sprayed mosquito spray throughout the house so i wouldnt get bit. My 12yr old son was there with me...and every day my husband got up in the morning, made sure he ate something for breakfast, and walked with him to the street, caught a bike with him and rode with him all the way to school and back, letting me sleep if I wanted. Then when he got back he would make me breakfast, and then.....well u kno what then!!!!! LOL. He bonded with my son instantly, as did my son to him...and they would go off to watch football(soccer) games and have so much fun together.

I miss him sooooooooooo bad. Especially his laugh! OMG...that laugh. Sometimes i just have to call him to hear his voice and make him laugh. He is such a gentle soul, and i am so blessed to have found the love of my life! Can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together.

I THANK GOD EVERY DAY FOR THIS GIFT HE HAS GIVEN ME!

Ok, my SO and I are married and together now...he arrived 01/2007, so it has basically been a year. I love reading all your stories...they have brightened my day :) I was once in your shoes and I want to let you know that once your SO is here....it will be beautiful. I wanted to share a story about something my husband did for me today that really really meant alot.

We just moved and I telecommute from home for the company that I am employed with. Well, I do not have internet connection yet ( my job has to put in an order) at the new place, so I have been going to the office everyday to work until then. Today my kids went back to school from the holidays and they use to walk, but now need to take the bus. My husband was also starting class today around the same time that my kids start school and we all have to go different directions.

We have 1 car, so I told my hubby that I will have to take the kids to school, sign them up for the school bus and then go to work late. Charles said that he would take the kids to school via city bus and then go to college via city bus...and I could just go to work with the car. Well I got up and went to work and then an hour later my husband and kids go on their way.

My husband put in a "request" to have the kids start taking the school bus to/from their school and then he leaves to go to college. Well he missed his bus to get to college in time for his 1st class and had to wait another hour for the next.

I feel bad that he had to be late for his 1st class of the semester, but I truly appreciate all that he did for me and for the kids today. It is a true blessing when you have someone in your life who will make sacrifices for his family...whether they are near or far :)

To Blessed to be stressed:) I realize that all things have a purpose and a time.....have faith and the Lord Almighty will provide... when the time is right, he NEVER fails!

That is absolutely wonderful that he would do that for you!!!! And it's nice to hear from someone whose SO is here and to hear that it is WONDERFUL. We get a lot of posts from those "warning" us about green card fraud and how things get difficult and are terrible after the SO gets here.

Thanks for giving us the refreshment of a story where things are GOOD!!!
