What do you think about yearly BMI calculation for school children (and informing parents of how to prevent obesity)? If I recall they were already weighing school kids, right?

I have no idea if they're weighing kids in school. If they are, that's cool. School is where you learn and learning how to eat right and stay healthy may as well be part of it.

What I have a problem with are diet evangelists who won't STFU around adults. I'm grown up now. I know it's bad for me. I still want it, so STFU.

Are you ok with taxing cigs and booze? What about the argument that obesity puts so much of a burden on our health care system?

A lot of things cost us a lot of money. How about we start taxing losers who drop out of school or get pregnant at 16? Or how about people who engage in unsafe sex and get HIV, let's tax the hell out of them.

Why single out one form of risk over another? Tax all risks equally as a function of their cost. Leave morality out of it.

I agree with you, but I'm not sure I know if you think we should tax booze and cigs.

As long as the tax levels are proportionate to their cost and are not a function of how much people morally disapprove of alcoholics and fat people, sure.

I was really pleased to see Obama get the victory last night, it will be interesting to see if he can pull it off in New Hampshire (even more interesting if Huckabee can).

After last nights results it made me look at Huckabee's website to see where he stands on the issues and it does sounds a lot like Bush Mark 2, however his views on taxation are interesting (not made my mind up if they are good or not). However as much as I hate his policies there is something generally likable about the guy, cant put my finger on it.

Anyway I have never really experienced the primaries before so I am quite enjoying it all, stayed up late watching CNN, shame I cant vote yet.

Oh, I was just not around on VJ for like, a month, or something. It was a pretty busy time. So what's all the drama with that thread? I don't think it's right to discriminate based on weight, but I'm not 100% against taxing empty calories the same way we tax other things. Or I wouldn't be against it, if we could calculate how much it costs us as a country. That might be difficult.

Your profile shows you were gone for 3 months. Found it amusing that weight was brought up (again) considering the drama with that last thread....
