Rep is irrelevant. Obama ran against Hil. Hil ran. Rudy not running makes Huck's victory less relevant, not Obama's.

Rudy got votes. I don't understand - by not running do you mean not campaigning?

Right he decided not to invest money campaigning in Iowa. His strategy is risky, IMO - he isn't trying very hard in NH either. He plans to win in the big states that come later. But in the meanwhile, media attention is being saturated by Huckabee and Mitt and McCain, the Republicans who are running in IA and NH. I wonder if he can pull it off.

It doesn't seem like a very good strategy to me. It's like saving your secret weapon and getting killed before you can use it.

I don't know. Is Iowa that important?

No, but being talked about in the media for as long as possible is. Who are all of the undecided Republican voters hearing about right now?

That's really the most important thing. I'm not even a Republican voter and Huckabee's victory last night motivated me to get a lot more informed about him.

Australia has the right train of thought. An Iowa winner has not won the presidency since 1976. It's one caucus, it's means very little.

Yes, but for an African American to win Iowa is a milestone. They have always talked about the caucus was not fear in Iowa and New Hampshire, because the African American and minorities were not being respresented. It really sets the stage for what the American people want… change and honesty.

Yeah he's totally scary. He believes in the bible -- literally. Like not only the religious stuff but also the science and history. That's enough to scare me off. I like his health initiatives, but that's it.

His health initiatives are what scare me. I'm afraid he may take my God given right to munch down a triple cheeseburger away :(

Or worse yet, try to tax it :(

Heh. He's like an ex-smoker who makes a big show of how much they hate smoking. Except it's donuts instead of cigarettes. What do you think about yearly BMI calculation for school children (and informing parents of how to prevent obesity)? If I recall they were already weighing school kids, right?
