Has anyone ever requested a specific interview date at the consulate in Vancouver? I'm just wondering if we could request a specific date(middle of February) when we fax our checklist back? Or, how would we go about this?

I have read others going through vancouver doing this. Sometimes it works, some times it doesnt!! Im sure they will chirp in

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I requested first available date (sent in my check list on dec 31st) and i got Jan 23rd. By the your timeline, it doesnt appear that you received packet 3 from vancouver yet. they are scheduling interviews now not far off from the date you are looking for. i dont think you will have a prob getting in around the time you want. Maybe request "frist available appointment after feb 10th" for example.

it asks you on the checklist you fax back.

no prob. the only difference in the checklist you will receive from the one that is posted somewhere here on VJ is that now you must make payment prior to your interview. I make payment of $131, even though the checklist says $100, at any scotia bank. Good luck! hope everything works out for you.

When I sent package 3 back to Vancouver, I asked for a specific date during a specific week. Gene was going to be in WA state that week and was going to come up with me. Vancouver is pretty fast at scheduling interiews...usually scheduled one month after you faxed back package 3. I wanted one two months after that. No problem, and got specific date I requested.

Too bad Montreal isn't as accommodating as Vancouver.

I'm going to try with MTL as my daughter is staying here to graduate grade 8 and I want to be here for it. I've also set a date for the church blessing of our wedding for the end of June. I know that it takes roughly 90 days to get AP, so I need to be in Chicago by March 15..... :unsure:

It looks like we're on the exact same timeline lol. Van consulate got ours on the 28th and was mailed out on the 3rd to my house. Will you 2 be going together for the interview? Amber and I were thinking of a mid feb interview as well. Maybe we'll see you guys if you go with your Canadian Fiance :P Dont be shy to say "hi" if we do run into each other hahahaha.
