Hello All,

I am facing some trouble with the DS-230 Part 1 Form.

Question 15,16,17 and 18: Fathers/Mothers Names, Date of Birth, Address etc.

-> This question applies to me who is applying for the Visa right? Not to my american wife who is the petitioner!

Question 24: Previous Military Service

-> I was working as paramedic at the Red Cross. Do i have to tick "NO" or just type in my information from the civil service?

Question 25: List dates of all previous visits or residence in the United States. Give type of Visa Status, if known. Give DHS "A" number if any

-> Does this include all visits as tourist or only longer visits with visa such as "J1" for example? If all then the page is too small ;).

Thank you very much for making the effort of reading and answering these questions.

Happy New Year!

Mario

DS-230 is all about the foreign resident applying for the visa not US Citizen.

Questions 15-18 are foreign family.

Question 24 has to do with actual military service, my fiancee was in the PLA People's Liberation Army in China.

You may want to check out the Example DS-230 in the example forms section of this site.

Thanks a lot for the quick response.

Now i have another question.

In question No. 25 on the DS-230 Part 1 Form, it says:

"A" No. (if known)

Does anybody know what an "A" No. is?

It is quite hard to track back every visit to the United States of the last 15 years including precise time period.

Thanks.

Mario

Check with your spouse your petitioner, the I-130 approval notice may have an A Number listed above your name on theat document, this number will eventualy be the number on your green-card.

A NO is their abreviation for Alien Number. You should try to list as many as possible and use a separate sheet when you run out of room with latest trip listed first. When you attach the separate sheet, be sure and put your NVC number and names of sponsor and beneficiary at the top.

Thanks a lot for your quick help. You guys are really helpful.

I am sorry to bother you with all those questions, but the next just came up. What is the "NVC" number? Is that my case number? I listed all visits to the USA in my life so far.

Thank you.Mario

Hi,

I have never received such a paper "NOA". We live in Germany and so i filed directly with the Consulate in Frankfurt. After we sent in the I-130 we received the next package with the checklist and Affidavit Forms etc. No i have just sent back the checklist and to get interview appointment i have also to send back the DS-230 Part 1 Form. Then they will schedule me.

Is is possible that the whole procedure differs from case to case and where you live and where you apply from?

Greets,

M

Yes, he means your case number and yes you have filed via Direct Consular filing, which is different from filing directly to USCIS in the U.S..

Looks like you don't have an A number, so you can just write - none.
