Ties to the country for US Visit

I have now booked my tickets to fly to Chicago to visit Leticia on May 1st. I am just trying to get my ties sorted out. Work have said they will write a letter. Does anyone have any ideas what to write? I have to be back at work on the 12th May.

Also, my current accomodation runs out at the end of June, so will that look dodgy if I use that contract as a tie?

Employment letter - just that you are employed as X, full time, and only have leave until X when you will be returning from holiday. I didnt have one of those btw - not employed :)

Contract - well I guess it MIGHT look dodgy if thats ALL you have - but it won't be - I had a copy of my current mortgage agreement there.

I also took a bank statement - showing I had active accounts in the UK - wasnt sure if that was any use cos no-one asked to see anything except my return ticket.

Any HP/credit agreements might be useful - as backup proof not as primary proof.

I'm sure others will have more suggestions.

Andy,

The other thing to remember is that there is a pretty good chance that the documentation you are gathering now won't even be asked for at the POE.

I made 2 trips through Chicago after we'd submitted our K-1 and even though I had a big envelope full of prooof of ties to the UK, I was never asked to show any of it. WIth regard to the rental / mortgage agreements I was already living back with my parents when I travelled so had nothing like that with me.

While I'd always reccommend having some extra stuff to show at the POE just incase, I wouldn't sweat over it too much. The fact that you are prepared to show *something* in terms of extra proof demonstrates that you're aware that entry is not always garunteed and that you have done more than the average VWP traveller.

Answer any and all questions truthfully, including the fact that you're visiting your Fiancee. You should be fine !!

Mark :)

P.S I see that you have filed for the K-1 already. If your Fiancee can fax or email you a copy of your NOA1, that further demonstrates that you are aware of the USCIS approved way of doing things and that you are less likely to try and jeopardize your visa application by overstaying or dissappearing once in the US !!
