Hi guys!

My wife sent I-751 form on Dec, 11 2007 and we got NOA today indicating that USCIS already received our form and $545

On the form, it says:

"Your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year. During the one-year extension you are authorized employment and travel"

"In order to further process your petition, you will be receiving an Application Support Center (ASC) appointment notice with a specific time, date and location to capture your fingerprints, photos, and signature. You must wait for your appointment notice before going to the ASC for biometric processing"

---------------------

here is my questions: how come my wife's application is only extended for 1 year? is it after we have done biometric(fingerprinting), then USCIS will send her (my wife) a new green card for 10 years? or what?

thank you for reading my post...I really need some of your advice here...

your help is greatly appriciated!

Tim

Yes to the bolded part...but remember there is also always a small chance of being called for an interview, like the AOS interviews, before getting the 10 yr card approval. They are just telling you that the NOA ensures your GC is extended for 1 year while you wait for the actual 10 yr card, the NOA will be your proof of legal staus when your conditional GC expires. The 10 yr GC is sent after they process your biometrics and application (depending on approval of course).

As previously stated, the 1 year extention is sent while the process the application for 10-year renewal.

Keep that notice handy. You need it to prove legal residence for that year.
