Does DoS know if embassy is processing the case?

Hi, Gang!!

Since our case has been at the embassy for a few weeks and we haven't heard anything, I was interested in contacting them just to verify that they have the case and all is well. However, we cannot get through to the embassy's telephone lines!

So, I was curious if contacting the Department of State would be worthwhile. Might they be able to tell me if someone at the embassy has started processing it, or give me confirmation that it's not lost in some back room?

E mail the Embassy and call DOS

1 202 663 1225 press 1 then 0. Have your case number ready and beneficiary's name and DOB.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I know when I call DOS and they pull up the case number they have his picture on the screen as the lady has said how nice looking he is. They know his interview date, almost a year ago, and have notes of all contact with the embassy. I have never asked but I am reasonably certain they note everytime I call (almost weekly since May 07).

My guess would be caling DOS would be as good as contacting the embassy unless it is something specific to your embassy such as hours, specific documents for the interview, medical exam etc

Hi, Gang!

Thanks for the replies. I was finally able to contact DoS this morning, and they had more information than I would have expected! Apparently, Packet 3 was sent out on December 21st, but they left out a line of the address!! It never got to her. A bit of a bumer, but it shouldn't be a big deal to straighten out, and we should be moving again shortly. :)

DOS is going to have the information you need. For what comes next, here's my DOS call log from 2006.

5/22/2006 1:33 BJ Confirms P3 sent May 17 There is no second name check scheduled at this time.

5/26/2006 6:03 Sue P3 NOT logged as received- Case shows as "open" which is supposed to mean the physical file is present.

5/31/2006 9:01 Raquel P3 NOT logged as received- Raquel also confirms the physical file is present since May 17.

6/2/2006 11:05 ? P3 NOT logged as received

6/5/2006 10:10 Rose P3 Not Logged as received

6/7/2006 9:35 Michael P3 Not Logged as received

6/9/2006 9:20 BJ P3 Not Logged as received

6/12/2006 8:05 v spec :-) No new update This seemed to be a new person. Wouldn't give name when asked.

6/14/2006 7:35 Jennifer Document qualified, eligible for interview P3 logged 6/14/06 Interview not scheduled.

6/15/2006 6:47 Barbara No Change

6/16/2006 6:46 Raquel No Change

6/19/2006 6:18 BJ I'm sorry but no interview has been scheduled yet.

6/20/2006 7:09 BJ I'm sorry but no interview has been scheduled yet.

6/21/2006 Rose No interview yet

6/22/2006 7:36 Sue No interview yet (GUZ can take from 3 to 6 months to get interview.)

6/23/2006 6:54 BJ No interview yet

6/26/2006 6:44 Sue A K1 case with same eligible date was just assigned interview for August 30.

6/27/2006 7:01 Ola P4 today. Interview August 8.

As you can see in bold, they'll be able to tell you when the P3 is logged as sent, when it is logged as received and the case deemed document qualified, meaning it goes in the interview queue and then when the P4 is sent and interview date. If there are new name checks initiated or other problems they'll know about those too. We didn't have any.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
