Hello all good people on this website

Our AOS interview is coming up in 2 weeks and we are planning to move to another part of the state (same state different city) one week after because of change in employment (different employer, new job). What should we do?

1. Tell the INS officer of the planned change in address during the interview?

2. Change the address after the interview on-line and via the form through regular mail?

3. Do nothing and hope the GC will arrive at the new address as we will fill out the USPS form to have all mail forwarded to new address.

Your help/recommendations/advise will be greatly appreciated

Thanks much

The best is wait until you have green card. But if you really need to change, make sure and change address with post office, too. Immigration all the time made mistakes sending on old address even though if we change.

Example my ante, she change address with immigration, and they sent her green card again on old address, thanks god she change address with post office - in general post office will forward you if any mail comes on old address to new address (you never know).

Example my friend, after an interview he changed address with immigration, and they sent again on old address GC, and green card return to immigration since no one didn't take mail, and when he call them and they told him, call after 60 days, and he supposte to get GC on August 2007, and still waiting for one.

I don't know is this will help, I mean we all have different experience but you never know

Thanks Saratara. My concern is I read somewhere that when INS mails documents they write "don't forward, return to INS" so I was concerend that even when I turn in the form for a change of address USPS may not forward INS mail to my new address.

Give the interviewer your new address at your interview, make sure that he/she changes the address on the system, then wait 1 week and call the 0800 number and check what address they hold on file for you... if needed complete the online address change forms and then check again that the address has been updated....

While having your mail forwarded to your new address is a good thing to do, it will not help you with the greencard they can not be forwarded by the USPS they have to be returned to USCIS....

Good luck with your interview and move...

Thanks. If I give the interviewer the new address will there be a need to present new affidavit based on the new employment in the city which we are moving to?

If we inform the officer of the intended change of address which will be effective 4 days after the interview (interview on Thursday, we are moving to new city on Saturday and starting a new job on Monday) will the officer cancel the interview and transfer it to the INS office in the new city? Should we change address after the interview by calling? Please help.
