Hello! Some may know about my case but for the sake who do not, let me explain and be more specific as I want to get an intelligent helpful response regarding this matter.

:D:D:D:D

I am a Filipina. Our K1 application got approved (NOA2) last March 30, 2006. We are still waiting for our case number from NVC.

Just today, my fiance send me DS-230 (Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration) to fill up as per advised by our lawyer.

I didn't read any single post here that a Filipina woman petitioned (still on process of K1) by an american fiance needs form DS- 230 while she's still in the PI waiting for the interview.

Needless, DS- 230 is not needed for K1.

With what the lawyer wants me to do, I assume, he's starting to gather docs that I will be needed when I am in the US already. I assume, this will be for my adjustment of status once I get there. I assume he's gathering and completing docs ahead of time so he has nothing to worry. I assume he wants me to get done filling up all the docs needed in the future.

To those who has an idea about my guesses, pls give me the answers. i can't understand why he wants me to do this. Even my fiance has no idea about K1. He is dependent with the lawyer as he's paying him.

Anyway, when the lawyer filed our K1, he didn't ask a letter of intent from me. Is there a different process when having a lawyer?

After the NVC gets your fiance's petition, they will give it a case number and forward it to the Manila consulate. You will then be sent the so-called Packet 3 by the consulate and then you will need to submit Part 1 of the DS-230 as part of your submission back to the consulate, so it is required. Read the K-1 guide here on VJ, it tells you everything about the process and what forms you need. There are others in addition to the DS-230 that you will need to submit in Manila.

Regarding the letter of intent, I read a few days ago that the need for a letter of intent from the foreign fiance(e) had been eliminated.

DS-230 is in package 3 for K1-applicants. If your lawyer wants you to fill this out then he's preparing your part of package 3. You need to fill this out at some point before the interview anyway.

By the way, :time:

Good luck.
