Twice the number of Iowans came out to vote in the Dem primary as opposed to the GOP primary. The GOP has a turnout problem, they won't win if this continues, no matter who they run. Rest easy, people. The Dem primary is the presidential race.

teehee...shhhh...don't let Gary hear that. He's probably waving a Fred Thompson banner right now.

From Mike Gravel's website:

"We're Still in the Race!

January 4th, 2008 by J. Skyler S. McKinley

Once again, the Mainstream Media has not gotten the facts straight.

MSNBC pundit Keith Olbermann has incorrectly declared that Sen. Gravel has dropped out of the race following the January third caucus in Iowa. This is not true, and Sen. Gravel is still an active member in this race. We are requesting that MSNBC and Keith Olbermann retract their statement, and issue an apology to the campaign for promoting blatantly false misinformation.

Again, Sen. Gravel has not dissolved his campaign, and has no intentions of doing so."

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

What do you know.... sounds just like when Bush won the second time. The fundie vote will bring us yet another moronic president unless we can get the 20-something idiots to pull the iPod earbuds out of their ears and go vote for a change.

I will be voting for the first time in this election. And no fundies for me.

Oh, and Gravel is my homeboy. :) What has he got to lose?

Question: why does Hillary get more delgates if she got less of the vote?

100% dem results are in. Obama 38, Edwards 30, Clinton 29.

Hillary's 3rd place finish is now official.

3rd place by 7 votes.

That's just an estimate though.

Can anyone tell me what purpose it is for the democrats to count/estimate this way?

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/state/#IA

So is it like the electoral college where the delegates can choose whom to support regardless of what the popular vote says?

Right. I didn't realize that's how the primaries worked too. Geez, how many degrees of separation do we want between who the people really want and who gets chosen in the end?

Who knows. After all that 2000 election #######, they talked about redoing the electoral college - but so far, nothing. Al won the popular vote but the idiot won the electoral college, thanks to his brother pushing results in FLA for him.

:secret:"It wouldn't be wise of any of us to read too much into what happened in Iowa," spokesman Jay Carson told reporters shortly after midnight. The caucus has "rarely picked the nominee," Penn said a little later. "The last time it picked the president it was 1976. And in 1976 'uncommitted' won."

I might agree that reading too much into Iowa is wise, but this run, the fact that New Hampshire is 4 days away makes the win that much bigger. Momentum n' all that. His speech was enough to carry him way beyond the 5 day wait to NH.
