I just got a letter today that our AOS case was denied for no response to an RFE. We never got the RFE, the USCIS website never showed an RFE had been sent, we got no email about an RFE, and were never told about an RFE at any of our multiple visits to the local office. I called USCIS and they said it just shows our case to be denied and does not specify the reason or what may have been requested. Has anyone else come across anything like this? This is just the latest hurdle in our laundry list of road blocks with USCIS.

Just want to say sorry and I guess it's time to make another infopass. Wish I had better advise.

10Yr GC arrived 07/02/09 - Naturalization is next

The drama begins - again!

And now the drama ends - they took the Green card . . .

You need to file a motion to reopen and it looks like you can do so without an attorney.

Contact your congressman. It is unacceptable for them to deny you without even telling you why.

They did tell her why though - no response to the RFE they sent out. The people on the misinformation line only have as much access as we have - online case updates, really.

Yassmine - I'd do an infopass appointment. They might be able to tell you more, the USCIS line is useless. I'd try to fight it if you didn't receive the RFE, but knowing USCIS you might have to just buck up and file a motion to reopen.

Still not acceptable. They have to be able to tell you what the RFE was for. Surely they have a copy of the letter that was sent out. If the person on the phone can't help you, ask for a supervisor - SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE has that letter and you need to know what it says. You have to fight hard, you can't take no for answer.

Thanks for the advice folks, it _does_ help. Sometimes I just feel rudderless in this ridiculous process. We've got an infopass appointment for Thursday and an appointment with a laywer on Tuesday.

Ive given up on calling USCIS for anything anymore. Those have got to be the most useless people on the face of the earth. I cannot count the number of times Ive called them about our AOS alone and every single time I get a different answer. Ive been transferred up the ladder until I got nosebleeds and those supposedly superior people either wouldnt help or couldnt help. Not that my local office is much better. I feel they are partially to blame for alot of the stumbling blocks we've had with AOS, due to their horribly bad advice and information.
