want me to come kick goose's ###? I'll wear pointy shoes

I do!

Seriously, though. LOL. Is it just the drugs (I'm on Dayquil and cough syrup) or is this whole thing beginning to sound like some sort of weird daytime soap opera?

I think so too.

#######? Why did Jinky even listen to someone telling her to go see Goose? Didn't you teach her anything since she got here? Geez, man!

I am not understanding why your wife trusted this check cashing place, even if someone referred her to such a place, and a man named "Goose". Unbelievable. But I hope things get better soon for you and your wife. (F)

Goose reminds me of Top Gun, I can't seem to get it off my mind. LOL. sorry.

I agree about the soap. I just can't get over there being a guy named Goose. I keep thinking about it randomly during the day and laughing about it.

OMG, I just had a belly laugh.:lol::lol:

Whoa. What the heck kind of place tells you to ask for a guy named Goose??????

Geez, pay the fee at a BANK & wait a few weeks.

PS: I doubt any check cashing place would cash a foreign check.

I know...that's why I didn't even think about going to one. Now the check cashing place has the check and I'm wondering if once they verify it is real, that they'll give it back to us because I don't want their service!

Her sister sent her the money for her birthday and thought she'd save some money by mailing a check rather than pay Western Union, but what a bloody ordeal! WU would've only charged about $24 to wire the money.

It might be quicker for her to have her sister cancel the check and rewrite it.

Update:

I talked with my brother this morning, who's a police officer in AZ. He recommend that I call WaMu to let them know what happened and to talk with the Sgt. in that area. He basically said that if Goose alleges it was a counterfeit, then it should have been treated as a crime, where the officers should have taken the check themselves and made a report, but they didn't.

As what I've gathered, there's a difference between actually trying to cash a check vs. asking them if they could cash the check. Jinky went in and asked for Goose, telling him WaMu referred her to him so he was aware of why she was there. When he looked at the check, he immediately said he was confiscating the check. They didn't even get to the point of a transaction - she merely showed him the check to see if he could cash it.

Meanwhile, the check cashing place told me the check was forwarded to their check fraud department at their corporate offices and if they determine it is a counterfeit, then they will press charges against Jinky. However, if they can determine that it's not, they said they will return the check to us, uncashed.

When I called, WaMu, the person on the phone couldn't believe what happened and we come to find out it was the branch manager who gave us the Google map printout of the check cashing place, along with the name to ask for, Goose.

I'm embarrassed as hell over this and regret this turning into a soap opera. I'm won't post any more on this matter until there is closure and I appreciate all the advice and support.

I'm asking that everyone refraining posting on this thread unless you've got some advice. Thanks. :)

Hopefully you told the branch manager never to recommend that place again. What a mess.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Good luck with getting your cheque back! And soon!

For future EURO birthday gifts :) - give your sister in law your bank acc number. WaMu will charge you only $10 for international incoming transfer. And you get your money in a day or two! (I have a free checking account with them).

Hope your wife has calmed down by now and is doing ok, given she is pregnant and all. If I were her... I would also expect you to find a way to make up to her for trauma suffered :)

Don't be embarrassed, Steven - could have happened to anyone.

Goose had no right to "confiscate" the check and the act of confiscation in this case

is tantamount to theft.

Good luck and keep us posted!
