My husband LOVES when I make djej makalli (the tajine with chicken, preserved lemons, and olives). I have to admit I love it too. I should make that this weekend. mmmmmmmm.....

We are on our third tagine now. Hicham brought two back from Morocco last March. One has already cracked. The one we had previous to that did as well. We have an electric stove, use a heat diffuser, and keep the temperature low. We still have issues. (I will admit the crack on the most recent one was due to its flight from Morocco and only has been exacerbated by use). I may be going to Vermont in April. If I do, I will probably make a sidetrip to Montreal and buy one in the Moroccan import store where I got our original one.

we've been putting our tagine directly on the flat surface stove . forgot what those are called. this is his mom's tagine who used to put it on a gas stove with no diffuser. i think it cracked the other day because my husband heated it up without anything in it (no oil.butter, etc) thats what i think anyway.

i love all the tagines mentioned. i guess a really good kefta tagine with eggs might be my fav. but i do love lamb and chicken too. hmmmmmmmm.

my husband made the chicken/onion/olive one the day he broke the tagine. i thought it was good but he got upset and refused to eat it because it wasn't as good as his mom's version. *sigh* picky, picky!

We make the chicken/onions/olives one in a regular pot on the stove. Wadi calls it a "gamilla" (sp.?) which I thought was the specific name of the dish, but he says is the actual word for pot.

I'm not sure what the difference is.

I use one with mine, I dont know if it extends the longevity as its the only tagine I have ever owned, but so far so good!

I use that flame tamer when I am making risotto also to prevent burning the bottom of the pan. if i ever made paella i would use it with that pan as well.

Thanks - I was wondering where I can purchase one - so far no luck - any suggestion on a store...

do you live in NY? dont they have everything in NY? LOL

I got mine here

Discussing which women may or may not, and who should be pregnant is anything but cute. I would never share my pregnancy status on this board and I would appreciate not being included in the "list". It's sick.

I have to say that I also consider this to be an extremely PRIVATE issue, and unfit for public speculation.

I apologise if my posts were "sick". I was actually hoping that someone might have some insight as to what may be going on with me. I was never trying to "disgust" anyone. I asked my doc and she's stumped (haven't had any blood tests yet). Pharmacist has no clue and says the meds shouldn't cause the problem which is why I asked about pregnancy. I figured in a forum with mostly women, someone might have some insight to whats up.... again, I apologise.

It was really scary... couldn't even cough coz there was so much yucky stuff in his chest... I"m waiting to hear what the doc says....
