Hello all,

After the longest day of my life of crying, praying and swearing... Mark called this afternoon of being all day at the embassy in Managua saying he got the visa! wOOOhOoo! They put us through more scare and frustration to the very last step! Anyway, he's finally got it. He can pick it up next Wednesday.

THANK GOD! thanks everyone for your advice and support!

I need to book a flight and was going to make it next Friday, 2 days after they said he could pick it up, since it's Nicaragua and who knows what might happen! Is it necessary to book a roundtrip or doesn't it matter if it's a one-way? Any advice? If it's an e-ticket, do I just put it under his name, does he need to have a credit card or anything? He doesn't have one! Does it matter where he enters or are all POE the same?

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks all, good luck!

Congratulations on the visa. It really does not matter if you buy a one way or round trip ticket. If you buy a round trip you have to use it for the first part of the trip and it may be cheaper than a one way. We went through Houston, Texas and got in around 6:00am and the process was very smooth, and they pretty much all speak spanish there for him if his english is not that good. Other airports like Miami or Atlanta may be a bit crazy because thaty are so large and very busy. Good luck with every thing.

One way or round trip doesn't matter except we've seen a couple reports of I-94's set to expire on the return date from the return ticket. That is an error but I'd advise you to set the return date out more than 90 days if you buy a round trip.

That said, he doesn't have a visa in hand yet. I'd wait to buy the ticket until the visa is in hand. It may be a small risk but at least check the fee for changing the departure date.

From some countries it is actually less expensive to buy one-way, in country, at the last minute. I have no idea if that is true from Nicaragua.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Congrats!! Round-trip or one-way...either is fine, see which is priced better. E ticket matching the name on his Visa and Passport will be perfect...and there is a section here on VJ that has reviews of many POEs. I have read that JFK may be one of the only POEs where he can get the stamp for work authorization if he is seeking that..... (even then it is not a guarantee he will get it there and still is only good for the 90 days the visa is good for.)

Congrats! That must be such a relief!

you're not allowed to use the second part of the ticket only?

it's annoying because my fiance and I had planned for him to come here, spend a little time here with my family before I leave and then leaving together

so he was to buy two round trips from the USA to France and I intended to use only the second part of the ticket...

do you know why it's this way?
