I suppose I'm writing this just cause I need a little bit of a vent, but each time we have to say goodbye it gets so much harder. We've been seeing each other and saying goodbye at least once a month for a year now but it's still so hard. I have to say that after spending twelve days together, it's like this glimpse at the absolutely fabulous life we're going to have together and I'm getting so impatient. I know it will all be over with soon but man alive this is tough!

I just can't wait until we don't ever have to say goodbye ever again! ~sighs~

so sorry to hear.....just think that after this journey everything will be ok, and you never have to say good bye again.

I do not wish to share any information about this dead end journey.........I have reached my final destination on this train, and it is time for me to get off.

THIS TOO SHALL PASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"If marriage means you fell in love, does divorce mean you climbed out?"

"You never really know a man until you have divorced him."-Zsa Zsa Gabor

"When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife." Deuteronomy 24:1-2

"When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on." - Franklin D. Roosevelt

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us." - Helen Keller

"Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today?" - Mary Manin Morrissey

"I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much." - Mother Theresa

I do understand that. Joel and I did this for two years. Each one got harder and harder for both of us. It will be over soon though...and there will be NO MORE airport goodbyes nor months or weeks apart. That's what got us both through this hellacious process. Hang in there hon. (F)

I hear ya! John and I went back and forth for 4 years. It doesn't get any easier as time goes by either, but it's so worth it in the end.

Hang tight and the wait will be over before you know it. :)

Thanks everyone! I appreciate it! I know that it will be over soon, that thought is what's keeping both of us going through all the crying at the airport. I just try to keep thinking that this is the year that I will marry my best friend and start our new life together!

KarenCee- I can't imagine two years!

Modano- or FOUR! Geez! It's only been a year and a few months for us and it's torture.

I have the utmost respect for anyone who goes through this visa process. I believe that if we can make it through this that we can make it through anything. It's my opinion that the couples who go through this kind of process are much more likely to make the relationship work. I know I've had many relationships but this is the one that I value most, and have worked the hardest at. That's what takes a successful marriage I think, dedication, committment, hard work, and love.

I know how you feel. I did it for almost 3 years and it doesn't get any easier. Just remember that once this whole thing is over and your finally together for good, you'll never have to do it again. It's like a weight being lifted off your shoulders.

yeah, I remember those days... it was soo tough to say goodbye and I usually would cry all the way home from the airport...

once you are together forever those days become a distant memory , almost like they never happened...

Sorry you're feeling so down. Big HUGS for you today. Gene and I did it for five years. I'm truly amazed at how it is a soooooooo distant memory now, it really is hard to conjure up how awful I would feel during this time as well. Please take care of you...do some nice things for you when you're feeling like this.

I know exactly how you feel. We've been having to say good-bye's for 1 1/2 years now. It is so hard and feels so unfair when I see happy couples here who never have to go through this separation. I do believe it makes us much stronger couples in the end since we have to work so much harder for it and appreciate it that much more.

We did it for 2.5 years. It definitely gets a bit wearing. My favourite words from my Cousin.... "The nice thing about time is that it passes. And, when you get to where you are meant to be, it will seem like no time at all." Like the ladies say.... it's a distant memory now. I handled it by taking advantage of the time I had left with my family and friends. I enjoyed the time I spent with them, appreciated the things I had, the places I went, and the time I had left alone.

I remember my girlfriend calling a few months after I'd moved here and asking if I had any regrets about being married. I said "Sometimes I'd just like to sit on the couch and not have to respond to someone when they walk by." She said "Oh that'll come. Give it 10 years."

Thanks everyone! I am feeling a little tiny bit better today! I realize that it's a new year and this will be one of the best years ever in my life so far. It's all about a positive attitude and I'm really trying to think about it that way!

Krikit- That's too funny! I've always been a talker, but sometimes my sweetie and I just sit together and not say a word. Sometimes I'm like "why aren't we talking?" and he replies that we're touching and that's enough! He's right. Just to be able to be with him and touch him is enough. I suppose I talk because it's the only way I feel close to him!
