Just Recieved NOA1 for I-130 from CSC

Hi,

I filed I-130 petitions for my wife and step-daughter who reside in Canada. I reside in MI, so I filed with the Nebraska SC. They received the petitions on 9/4 and my notice date is 12/22. It apparently was transferred to the California SC.

I looked up the processing times for the I-130 on the USCIS website, and it is showing 6 months for my case types. I have a few questions:

Is it 6 months from the received date, or notice date?

How much time is involved with the steps necessary AFTER the 6 months? I know they will need police checks, medicals and interviews, so I am just trying to guess at when the whole process could be complete.

I read that the K3/4 visas are taking 6 months right now, so would it be worth it to file that for them? I am really hoping to have them able to move over here next summer, so my step-daughter can start school with all the other kids.

Any help you guys can give me will be much appreciated!

The CR-1 is the superior visa, it results in a green-card issued, no adjustment of status as is the case for K-Visas, AOS costs $1010.

Compare VJ timelines for CR-1 and K-3 for your country.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.
