OMG! I just went through the PMS crave, and now I am in the phase where I don't want to eat.. so I'm actually sticking to this this time. i need to get my apetite under control. Some of it is going ito the warmer weather... it does help with my being able to stop eating like crazy. My fat jeans are tight again so something has to give... and I am goiung to have to stick with this.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

I also lost 1lb. this week, but I'll take it! Bridget ~ depending on your current weight 1,000 calories may not be enough for you, and may actually slow your weight loss. I aim for 1,500 calories a day and include more complex carbs when I exercise. If the body thinks you're fasting, it will hold on to weight and start burning muscle, not fat as fuel!

Hope everyone has a great week

lost only 1 pound this week. getting nervous since i need to be down by 6 pounds by april 20.

congrats on the lb. you can lose 6 by april 20. if you only lose 3 though would they send you away for the surgery? that seems like it would be a guideline and a few lbs shouldnt matter?

everyone says you need to have calories yada yada yada or your body will hold on to fat. i dont get it. i had elective surgery back in november  and while i was recovering i had no appetite, definately ate less than 1000 cals a day and dropped 5 lbs and kept it off. and i am pretty lean to begin with - i was 150 at the time and 5'9. i recently had strep throat and couldnt swallow for 3 days so again didnt have 1000 calories. i dropped another 5lbs and kept it off. i am NOT advocating starvation or severe calorie restriction but it seems to me the less i eat, the more i burn the more i lose - even if its not at a magic number.

i want to believe this body holds onto fat thing but my experience just makes it hard and im looking for someone to explain!

Technically if I"m not exactly at the bmi they want by march 31 i'm to reschedule. That's not happening though so I'm stressing myself to at least get it down by the 20th which is when i leave. And yes I have spoken with two people that actually got turned away the day of...and we're talkin 'people who like me are flying there!!! I guess I should have made it for May. :( If by March 31 I really don't think I'll get there I will reschedule 'cause after that they keep $1,500 as a penalty fee.

I can't really explain it, but it's something about the body going into "starvation mode" - the metabolism slows way down. Everyone's body responds differently though, not to mention that I think this is usually advised against for extended periods of time - weeks or more. I'm not sure that a few days would cause the body to respond.

I have a friend who had to lose weight quickly before surgery and here is what she told me to do:

If you really want to lose weight..do what I did before my surgery.. you won't damage your body and it is totally approved by nutritionists.

I lost 1/2 a pound a day..no kidding.. but you have to stick to it..

Simply..the carnation instant breakfast- blue box (sugar free).. Drink five of those a day with 1% fat milk. Believe it or not, it will keep you full. You could drop the six pounds in less than 2 weeks. Or even do it for a week.

I'm doing it baby!!!!

I'm usually really against things like that, but since you have a real purpose, I say go for it. Good luck though, that sounds horrible.

I don't know if you guys already have diet/exercise trackers that you use, but I just found this one that I like: http://www.thedailyplate.com/

I love carnation instant breakfast :)

me too! I'm excited now 'cause lemme tell ya this friend of mine and me could totally plow through two large pizzas and drinks in one sitting so for her to say this stuff filled her up (she even followed up and said that some day she could only have 4 of the drinks 'cause she was so full!!) then I am not scared that I'll go hungry.

I cant believe I am advocating this but if I were you and $1500 was at stake if a week before I still had a few lbs to lose I would probably do the master cleanser!
