Well, they don't exactly come in small sizes in Hawaii! Everywhere you look... fat people! I'm scared to look on the beaches around here... afraid my eyes will be damaged.

Afraid your eyes will be damaged? From what?

The terrible immages I would see!!! Scarring on my retinas!!!

Sorry, but some people just don't belong in speedos and bikinis!!! :o

LMAO, just becuase they make a bikini in size 16 doeesn't mean you should wear it. I'm not thin either, but I am very concious of my body image and wear what is appropriate. If that is what you meant then fine. If you meant overweight people don't belong on the beach then I have a handful of poo to fling at you.

I agree....I do think its good to wear what will best fit one's figure. But to judge a person solely by their figure is, in my humble opinion, a very shallow way of thinking. Not everyone is overweight because of McDonalds and all the other fast food places. Have you thought of that?

I know that to be true as I eat a very healthy diet, cannot stand the taste of fast food, and still weigh more than I should. Sometimes it's a medical issue and you just have to do the best you can.

i joined weight watchers this morning. apparently an extra 24 pounds has taken up shop on my hips & elsewhere in the region.... thats according to their little weight - height guide. so going by their standards if i am *really good* i should be down to my target weight in 3-4 months. wish me luck!

Good luck and congrats on the heart! :)

Another thought on weight: Sucks to go shopping and realize that you don't fit into the size you're use to wearing and not because you just had a baby but because you let yourself go. I need to get the lead outta my butt and get active. On that same note I hate exercise :(

I even hated all the damn walking when I was in Romania. I missed my car soooooooooo much.

HOWEVER, (and here's my point finally) I do not want to lose weight or have my family skinny because of self image.... I want to have that done because it's HEATHLY, and I think that's the bottom line here.

I LOVE it when I hear parents say this. Good for you Faith! I'm not exactly thin and not really fat. I could stand to lose a few pounds, especially since my accident in October. Now that I can do a little walking I do that and eat healthy. My kids like to take walks with me and I have found this has been the most enjoyable time together. I know I will never have that perfect body again, but I am happy with myself and my man loves me for who and what I am and does not want me changing anything.

In fact, I like that better than those sickly skinny types. I dated women of the former group but none of the latter. Just thinking about touching a freaken skinned skeleton... *shudders*.

:thumbs::yes:

Had to put something in here, despite it not being exactly on topic. When I first came down here to San Antonio, TX, I was dumbfounded by something that I saw absolutely everywhere. For those of you who don't know, SA has a majority Hispanic population. I think it's around 60% Hispanic. Anyway, everywhere I looked, I saw these women wearing their clothes at least one size too small, if not two sizes. Not only that, but there were pouchy tummies hanging openly over their hiphugger pants. What boggled my mind was that nobody seemed to notice except me. I'm not skinny, never have been, never will be. I prefer the word "voluptuous" :P . I would never be comfortable exposing the rolls of fat and jelly bellies that these women were displaying. I've kinda gotten used to it now, though, so when my son and daughter-in-law were visiting us last month, I was startled to hear them talking about it. Anybody else have this experience?

I think it's kinda cool - obviously these women are totally comfy with their body shapes and while they may not fit our media-fed ideal of 'the norm', they don't give a cr@p and wear what they like.

Good on them.

Like the first time I went to Spain, many years ago, and on a beach saw some huge, hairy half naked Germans (no offense to Germans, but thats where they were from) and thought 'waoh..how can expose so MUCH flesh?' but looking back later I thought 'man, how shallow am I? Why SHOULDN'T they - surely its MY problem not theirs if I don't like it'

So I think fair play to them - if they are happy its all good.

Also confidence is sexy - no matter what you look like.
