DS-156

I have been going through various links and found fiancee to the DS-156. the link states that as of Nov 2006 all non-immigrant visa must use the electronic application form so a bar code is generated. My question is if the embassy send the DS-156 in the packet how does my fiancée fill it out electronically? i was going to do it on line and send them with the 129 packet to her. it the bar code the embassy sends specific to our case? or does and bar code work and then assigned to our case?

Though the embassy send DS 156 form I only passed the DS 156 that i filled in electronically. The bar code makes all the information easy for the embassy i guess..

Also filled up the forms electronically. If you use the ones from packet 4, you can either type on it or use handwritten. Whichever works! The bar code is not being sent specific to a case but it is only assigned once you fill out the forms and give to the embassy.

to reiterate what ppl have already said..

the bar code generated in the 156 is just a compacted form of all the information in the ds-156 and allows for easy/quick computer entry. Every bar code is unique to its original contents. It is not generated by the consulate
