Hi Everyone. I was just curious how many people were a part of visa journey on a regular basis and are christians?? I know there was a thread awhile back on this topic but I can't seem to find it so I thought I would ask again. Personally without God and VisaJourney I don't know where I would be in this whole process. God is the only one who keeps me sane as I sit and wait on the government and I think he provided Visa Journey to us all to make such a complicated process a lot easier on us all. So lets Praise him for that blessing. :D

CanGal

Me too. I am a Christian and find strength in our patient Father.

I certainly do not find it offensive, after all it is everyone to their own beliefs,

I was brought up a christian and consider myself as one still, although not a practicing one in so much as I do not go to church anymore. But I do believe that there is something, or that maybe "hope " there is something but not 100% sure what.

All I do know is that "if" there is something/someone and no matter what name is used, I could talk to him anywhere, be it a field, a church or in my own home. Perhaps I am in the end just "hedging my bets"

Roman Catholic...but just want to add, that I find it much more dogmatic and money centred here, so I'm on a hiatus from going to mass whilst I'm here. I go in and light candles for family and friends that have passed away and say my own prayers...but am staying away from the organized aspect of my religion here :(

Personally I don't believe christianity is really a religion anyways, it is a relationship. plifting postive thing.

*with a playful sense of curiousity*... Can you name me ANY "religion" that IS a religion, then?

As for me... I see myself as a "recovering christian". Don't get upset. I know plenty more good christians than bad ones (of course the bad ones are noisier), I just didn't happen to connect with it, that's all.

ace13, as for your brand of "pie-eyed" incredulity that non-christians could possibly find anything other than emptiness, hoplessness and sorrow in life... Well, like I said- the bad ones make the most noise, and unfortunately I must admit (to answer another question), that this is exactly what comes to mind when I think of "christians". To put it bluntly: arrogance, ignorance and myopia. If you think I'm attacking christianity here, take a deep breath and read it again, slowly. Anything that helps people is fine by me. I am sincerely glad for those who have found peace and happiness on any path.

You don't have to believe in evolution. Evolution just occurs, kind of like when you drop a ball it falls. You don't have to believe in gravity for gravity to work.

Here, read this. You can have your religion and science too!

apparently i was made in god's image - does that means his large toenail on the right foot is dodgy too ?

or did the devil cause that

didnt take much imagination

I reckon it proves :

I am not made in the image of a perfect being

also it proves evolution because natural selection is only a process and not a finished article

also it disproves intelligent design coz anyone looking at my toenail would not think it was designed intelligently

also - when you see how these shady priests carry on - doesnt it make you wish your kids were being looked after by a humanist ?

see the light folks - it ain't shining through a cloud

If we are made in the image of god - does that mean he has got a bottom ? what for ?

I believe everyone has the right to believe in whatever they wanna believe in as long as they don't try and force ME to believe in it as well.

I believe that most religions are based on decent things but are ruined by people interpreting them to suit their own purposes, usually over issues like power and the pursuit thereof.

If everyone who believed in religion lived their lives accordingly (peace, love of fellow man, understanding and tolerance, which includes relgious tolerance) then the world would be a much nicer place to live....Sadly most seem to not practice what they preach (I'm right, you're wrong, and if you don't live the way *I* say then you have to die or you will burn in a version of hell - its all religions not just one or 2 - and its not individuals I'm talking about but large groups )

Maybe one day..

I can hope can't I? :)

Peace out. (F)

I'm a Christian. I am thankful as well for VJ. I have learned so much and it has helped make the process less lonely. Best wishes to all still in limbo and I hope you are with your loved ones soon. (L)

BTW when threads get shut down around it it is caused by a small few who expel hatred. I personally think that the majority of us around here--even with differing views---get along just fine B)

It is cool to love Jesus

Peace.

IMAGINE

Imagine there's no heaven,

It's easy if you try,

No hell below us,

Above us only sky,

Imagine all the people

living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,

It isnt hard to do,

Nothing to kill or die for,

No religion too,

Imagine all the people

living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,

I wonder if you can,

No need for greed or hunger,

A brotherhood of man,

Imagine all the people

Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,

but Im not the only one,

I hope some day you'll join us,

And the world will live as one.

Once upon a time I believed. I was even baptised and confirmed as a Presbyterian.

Then I got out into the real world and experienced things. They say who we are are a sum of our experiences.

So now, I'm not a believer. Do I have all the answers then.. no.. I don't. Life was created some how, some way. Even if it was proved that we either evolved or was created.. the other side just won't accept it. It's in our nature... kinda why I think debating things is just stupid. I believe, think, feel... etc the way I do for a reason. Someone trying to change my mind on anything... from religion, guns, grocery shopping, etc... doesn't matter.

And yes, bashing does go both ways. Isn't one of the golden rules to Treat others as you wish to be treated? So if you want me to respect you and your views, then you should do the same to me. If your right and I'm wrong... I'll be the one sorry for it, not you.

Does not being a christian, or even religious, make me a bad person? I guess that's up for interpation. I don't smoke, I don't do drugs, when I have an occassional drink, it's in moderation. I don't commit adultry. I don't murder, steal, etc. Sure, I might covet things on occassion. Sure, I'm a man, I might be full of lust on occassions. But taking a page from the believers.. I'm only human, not perfect :-). I work, I'm a patriot, I raise my kids to the best of my ability, and I try and give back to the community when I can. I've been known to help others in need.

Doesn't sound like to ME that I'm a bad person just because I don't believe there's a god.
