Hardly seems fair to me that people on VJ can say any nasty thing about anyone, but when it comes to Christianity they get shut up and deleted as soon as possible.. So much for freedom of speech! I figured this would be more or less a US based website.. Previously (before the site went down) I posted twice on how i believed in creationism etc and how you can't scientifically prove evolution, and my posts got deleted twice... more like freedom of speech as long as you believe what we believe...
I wouldn't read too much into that, in that there were problems with the website and lots of info disappeared recently. :)

Yeah i probably am wrong about that.. maybe i should just edit it out! lol.. not even sure why i put that anymore.. this is a great site... I apologize for that statement..

I'd say bashing goes both ways ;)

I'm not Christian, have weird mixed beliefs but I'm not going to be bashing anyone, only time I get mad at religious people is when they try to force it on others. If everyone could just let everyone believe what they want I think a lot of people would be fine :)

I'm a Christian... my husband and I have actually been offered to be the children's pastors at our church here in Illinois, pretty excited! I really hope this thread can stay nice and a place where we can get together and just talk without it turning into yet another thread arguing and putting down eachother's beliefs.

I believe everyone has the right to believe in whatever they wanna believe in as long as they don't try and force ME to believe in it as well.

I believe that most religions are based on decent things but are ruined by people interpreting them to suit their own purposes, usually over issues like power and the pursuit thereof.

If everyone who believed in religion lived their lives accordingly (peace, love of fellow man, understanding and tolerance, which includes relgious tolerance) then the world would be a much nicer place to live....Sadly most seem to not practice what they preach (I'm right, you're wrong, and if you don't live the way *I* say then you have to die or you will burn in a version of hell - its all religions not just one or 2 - and its not individuals I'm talking about but large groups )

Maybe one day..

I can hope can't I? :)

Peace out. (F)

I'm a Christian. I am thankful as well for VJ. I have learned so much and it has helped make the process less lonely. Best wishes to all still in limbo and I hope you are with your loved ones soon. (L)

BTW when threads get shut down around it it is caused by a small few who expel hatred. I personally think that the majority of us around here--even with differing views---get along just fine B)

Like this?

IMAGINE

Imagine there's no heaven,

It's easy if you try,

No hell below us,

Above us only sky,

Imagine all the people

living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,

It isnt hard to do,

Nothing to kill or die for,

No religion too,

Imagine all the people

living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,

I wonder if you can,

No need for greed or hunger,

A brotherhood of man,

Imagine all the people

Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,

but Im not the only one,

I hope some day you'll join us,

And the world will live as one.

This Thread will most likely be taken over by the Non-believers and then closed unfortunetly.

Funny how peeps in VJ can post all kinds of bashing but say something good or say your a Christian and you get put down. sighs Oh well.

I must say I find that statement a tad harsh! Personally I'm a 'non-believer', yet wouldn't dream of attacking anyone for their personal views ( it takes allsorts and all those other cliches right?). Unless I'm sadly mistaken, and I don't think I am, I have never seen anyone 'put down' a christian (or any other religion actually). I have seen people try to debate some issues when they're put out there (we are all adults right??? We can engage in rational debate??), or I've seen threads where the bashing certainly appears to be the other way round. Either way on a public forum you can expect things to be said that you may not like or agree with, I'm not sure it constitutes an attack!!!

If people believe that God helped them through then good for them, personally for me it was good advice, a good sounding board (with VJ) inner strength and fortitude, oh and maybe that good old British stiff upper lip :D

Our Second Anniversary

I want to succeed in America where, unlike Britain, they do not regard ambition as being the same as eating babies.

The National Rifle Association says that, "Guns don't kill people, people do," but I think the gun helps, you know? I just think just standing there going, "Bang!" That's not going to kill too many people, is it? You'd have to have a really dodgy heart to have that happen.

There's a huge hole in the whole Flood drama, because anything that could float or swim got away scot-free, and it was the idea to wipe out everything, He didn't say, "I will kill everything, except the floating ones and the swimming ones, who will get out due to a loophole."

OK...i'll add my thoughts here....I am Presbyterian by affiliation. However, I'm not sure "what" I am. After enduring a few years of abuse in the name of "religion" at the hands of my Baptist ex husband, that tends to make you look at religion or Christianity in a different light.

I certainly do not attack anyone for their beliefs....I express my opinion but I do not jeer or make fun of anyone who thinks differently or believes a certain way. That is the beauty of freedom...you are FREE to believe, think, what you will. Neither am I judgmental....I go by what I've experienced to decide for myself.

Teaching is the essential profession...the one that makes ALL other professions possible - David Haselkorn
