I wish there were more people like Dixie Peach. If there were, I probably wouldn't want to vomit everytime I hear someone start a sentence with,"Well, I'm a Christian......" Oh wait, if they were like Dixie Peach, they wouldn't do that :hehe:

Dixie Peach you rock!

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Then Dean my dear, why don't you join the Bazaar? We all dig the same kind of music there, we talk politics, so on and so forth... you know you would be welcome as would anyone else into prog (L)

here is the address: http://melosprogbazaar.com

We have a digital magazine too and this month's edition will carry an interview with Hugh Hopper (Soft Machine fame) that I conducted via Email.

You can see the magazine here:

Paul and I met on the Bazaar on the 14th January (he joined my progressive rock forum that day)

July 3rd he flew to England to meet me

We fell in love while he drove all over the place coz I cannot read maps (we were supposed to go to Ingleton - but touched Darlington 4 times, Pierce Bridge 6 times, Scotch Corner twice and Bernard Castle twice and we never did make it to Ingleton)

It has been so long and so much has happened in between...

Arrived in Houston on October 29th 2006

Married 17th November 2006

Lost my father 8th January 2007 (all dates are a blur after this)

Conditional Green Card dated 24th October 2007

In some of the revisions, the Emperor or other wealthy old guy in charge, made changes according to his beliefs and preferences. Ahhhh, the benefits of being in power! You get to mess with the bible.

Could be because no one is reading it in the original Aramaic? Check your bible publishing history. The list of changes, "interpretations" and flat out errors is astounding. Also somewhat frightening considering how many people are reading it today and thinking it's accurate to the original.

To say nothing of the books that were edited/voted out.

"Revelations" only squeezed its way in by ONE vote. Imagine how different things would be today.......

Roman Catholic...but just want to add, that I find it much more dogmatic and money centred here, so I'm on a hiatus from going to mass whilst I'm here. I go in and light candles for family and friends that have passed away and say my own prayers...but am staying away from the organized aspect of my religion here :(

Remember that it isn't the priest or the other members of the parish that you are going to see on Sunday, it is that you are going to be with God. He is waiting for you. If there is termoil in your church or if you believe there is in the whole church, God still wants you to come, recieve grace and because of your feelings--could be trying to use you for a movement of change in the church.

We do speak to God from home. Sunday services are providing something else. Number one, Christians need other Christians. We need support from each other. I Peter 4:10 commands us to use spiritual gifts to help each other. Number two, we don't know everything and we aren't perfect, but we are striving to live a better life. We can learn from our ministers and priests and from other Christians and we can be called to serve others. A Christian who answers only to himself can easily rationalize sinful attitudes or actions; regular contact with other Christians can keep us sharp. If I never went to church, I wouldn't know about all the service opportunities and volunteer opportunities. God tells us in the Bible to meet and congregate. He wants us to! Maybe we don't know we are doing wrong and we need guidance.

"The eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of you." Neither can a Christian claim to be self-sufficient today.

The New Testament is full of "one another" commands. We are to comfort one another (I Thessalonians 4:18), build up one another (I Thessalonians 5:11), confess our sins to one another (James 5:16), pray for one another (James 5:16), and many more. How can we obey these directives if we stay away from the gathering of believers?

 We can't claim to worship Jesus while at the same time avoiding His Body, i.e., the Church (not institutions, but the gathering of other believers). The New Testament knows nothing of "lone wolf" Christians so focused on God that they can't see their fellow believers. Worship in the Bible was always in community.

Well, you did ask why we couldn't just speak to God at home...ace13 and I simply answered based on what believe the One we worship told us in the Scriptures. If I didn't believe His Word, I wouldn't be worshiping Him at all, publicly or privately.
